5. yes, I don't know why
when I've tried to come on here several times I just got a white screen. My server didn't time out that many times so I know it's not that or anyting. Is there alot of traffic on here tonight or something?

6. Played with it too much.
Didn't your parents tell you you'd break your toys if you weren't more careful?

And no, I don't have the problem. The DU headings are probably in your computer's memory, and the ads would load first, so something is preventing the new information from loading. What browser are you using? Any other pages doing that?

9. Umm...
I can't tell if you're teasing or not... So, at the risk of being taken a fool... The browser is the window you view the Internet on. It's name is written on the blue bar at the top of this screen. You answered, though, with IE, though if you are viewing it through MSN, then I have no experience.

I was just wondering if some browsers were having the problem and others not. A lot of DUer, me included, use Firefox... oh, never mind, your either teasing or it's more than you care about, anyway. Hi. :hi:

around here I know NOTHING...I am capable of learning but, sadly there is no one around willling to teachx(

This is coming in on IE...and I must of been moving to fast?? I think Embarq has something to do with it also. Every since they have taken over my phone and internet service the quality of both has gone downhill:argh:

how do you get firefox...is it free... do you just download it? I think I am starting to get to much stuff on here cos every once in a while this window pops up saying that my virtual memory is too low and they are expanding it...

and oh yeah :hi:

19. I'm not much of a Geek, just someone who has picked up a lot
of practical knowledge of computers. Lots of people know a lot more than me. Firefox is free, it's on www.firefox.com. It's a neat browser.

You may have your memory set too low, or may not be cleaning your browser history or cache out often enough. You can set IE and Firefox up to automatically delete stuff after a period of days. When Firefox is open, you can got to the Tools menu at the top, then to Options on that pulldown menu. Click on the "Privacy" icon, which will give you a row of tabs. Click on cache to set how much memory your browser will use (mine's on 50, which is probably the default). Click on History, and you set how many days it will keep web pages you have viewed in memory. The default is pretty high, I usually set it to about 3 days. IW has a similar system, with a Tools, and an Options menu, but, IIRC, it looks a little different after that.

I know nothing of this Embarq of which you speak, but I guess that's your Internet provider. THey could be the problem, some are slower than others, especially during peak times. You said something about MSN--are you signing in to MSN first, then accessing the web through them? If so, that will slow you down a lot, if it's anything like AOL, because it has to run that whole MSN software while you're browsing. If you have a full Internet connection, you can just click on IE or Firefox without starting MSN (you can close MSN if it starts up automatically). That would make your browsing faster. If you have MSN open, you are going through your provider, then MSN, then to your computer which is running a browser and all the MSN software, so it would be slower than running just Firefox, which would log in to your Internet provider directly without the extra steps. The only problem there would be if you don't have virus protection outside of MSN--if you don't, keep going through MSN, or download McAfee of Norton.

Shwew. You probably already know all of that, but once I get explaining, I can't stop. My kids pick on me about it! "I'll have to go now," the oldest one will tell her friends, "my dad's lecturing. I'll be awhile." Sigh.
