People honked and mocked ..... wtf? ? ?
http://www.mlive.com/news/jacitpat/index.ssf?/base/news-16/114606750880670.xml&coll=3

A Jackson man whipped his naked 14-year-old son with a leather belt while he led him by the wrist up and down a Jackson street, police and prosecutors say.

<snipped>

The father then led the teen by the wrist up High Street about 9:30 p.m., when it was still light out. The son told police he was embarrassed. Numerous cars drove by honking and neighbors mocked him as friends looked on, the son told police.

The son complied because he didn't want to be hit with the belt anymore, he told police.

Once they returned to the house, the son was forced to sit on the porch for 20 minutes, still naked. He eventually grabbed his clothes, dressed and made it to his mother's house on Van Buren Street. She called police.

A police officer observed five large welts on the teen's back and arm.

people honked and mocked ? ? ? ? What is this world coming to? I am so angry I'm just shaking.

That father should be prosecuted. He's not fit to raise children.

10. absolutely!
This is abuse. Criminal. I pray the child never has to be in his midst again, and I pray the child gets the help he needs. This 'man' should never be permitted to be near children again. I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

should obey his father.

"The father apparently became enraged when he thought his son was allowing relatives into their house in the 400 block of High Street to have sex, a police report said."

Great job dad. The kid will live, no harm done except to his ego and wimpy tearjerking liberals.

21. This is horrendous.
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 03:07 PM by Vash the Stampede
I'm not surprised the neighbors just sat and watched. Rural America has this sick "mind your own business" attitude about child/sexual abuse.

I'm not blaming the kid in ANY way, shape, or form, and I can't begin to imagine the circumstances involved here, so please don't misconstrue this comment - I know I sure as fuck would not let my dad beat me like that. The only time my dad ever did raise a hand to me when I was a teenager, I grabbed his hand and told him not to even think about it, because I would absolutely fight back. Still, I know a lot of kids are literally programmed to accept abuse because that's what they're raised on. It's an absolute shame. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids in the first place.

edit for typo

27. Careful with the broadbrush stereotyping of "rural America"
I grew up in a small town and can tell you that most of the people I know would NEVER have just sat and watched this with a "mind your own business" attitude. Are there some that would? Of course, but there are many people in cities and suburbs who don't give a shit what happens to their neighbors, either. Remember, Kitty Genovese was brutally murdered in New York City and none of her neighbors - who could hear her screams as she was being killed - cared enough to pick up the phone and call the police. So much for the superior sense of neighborliness in urban areas...

25. I know of a certain Jackson man that would've gotten a haymaker
were I in that area.

The only funny part would be that once in jail, not only would this guy get shit for beating and embarrassing his kid, he'd also have to tell general population that he got his ass kicked by a vegan.

even if the guy was a huge hulk of a man, which he might have been I'd still have found a phone. Most people have cell phones (?). I would not, could not have stood idly by and watched this.
