question about amazon.com and gift cards...

I want to purchase an out of print book from amazon.com but I have a borders gift card, it appears that Borders is affiliated with Amazon.com so I was wondering if I was able to use the gift card on that site. I was searching through amazon's webpage but haven't been able to get a clear answer for it. I was just wondering if anyone knows for sure...it appears like I should be able to, but I don't want to go half way through the ordering process only to find out I was wrong.

1. I would just try it

From my experience, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, depends on the item. Is the ordering a lot more complicated than normal for that item, or something?

2. You can try to "bank" it.

You don't have to make a purchase to add to a gift card balance. Just enter the numbers and see if it works.

If it doesn't, I'd still try to do it through the gift card. Or call Amazon customer service.
