Saw a Hummer ad aimed at women last night
One woman cuts in front of another in a check-out line, and the "victim" goes out and buys an H3 to get some attitude or something.

The tag line? "Get your girl on!"

:puke:

1. I saw a similar one about a guy
who was obviously a vegetarian and he was in line in front of a guy buying all kinds of meat while he had tofu, so to make him feel more "manly" he went out and bought a Hummer.

5. jeez. I love how advertising targets insecurities....
I wonder how much happier with themselves people would be without madison ave. crap ruining their self-esteem?

and as a side note: as a vegetarian who has gotten crap from complete strangers about it, I feel that real men and women don't let others tell them what to eat. or think. My response to the typical "dude" giving me crap is to either tell them that a lot of world class atheletes are/were vegetarian or that prostate problems and impotence have been linked to meat heavy diets. It usually shuts them up.

11. How to "get your girl on" the Hummer way
1. Don't bother much with school, because no cute boys like smart girls, anyway.

2. Marry a man, move to the suburbs, and vote the way he does because he's smarter than you and your marriage vows said to obey him, anyway.

3. Buy a Suburban or Tahoe so you can tote lots of kids, even if you don't have them yet.

4. Over-schedule the kids you do have so you a) don't have to deal with them much and b) can keep up with the Joneses by making sure your kids do all the cool stuff.

5. Upgrade to a Hummer when you get pissed off because you've never been allowed to acknowledge your own feelings.

12. This is what "get your girl on" means
you're a total failure as a person so you have to buy something, preferably something horribly expensive, in order to validate yourself as a person.
This could be a handbag that costs you one week's salary. Or a pair of shoes.
Or a Hummer.
This philosophy keeps women (and men) from reaching any kind of useful potential.
Instead of nurturing talents or helping the community, women are buying into, literally, the idea that possessions are a lifestyle.
You have a setback. You buy something.
See? You feel better.
That commercial is a white flag. I've given up as a human. I am now solely a consumer who is manipulated by materialistic desire.
I have the brain of a hamster.
