So, my fellow DUers, tell me a random fact about yourself
Here's mine: When I was younger, I used to be deathly afraid of birthday parties to the point that i would go under the table and cry whenever people sang "The Birthday Song"

1. When I was a Toddler, my Mom would take me shopping....
..at "Women's stores".
I used to see signs (at the stores) that said "Ladies Hose" and I'd think:

"What the heck is a Garden Hose being sold here for?"

clarinet from 6th grade, all through high school...was in pep band, and symphonic band(highest band at school), and made it to SE Alaska Honor Band, in 1994....

Thing is, I'm 6'4, and at the time, was well over 300lbs, played football, track and field...a lot of people were surprised that I was also musically talented...;)

So am I. I'm naturally an introvert. But in the right situation---when I feel comfortable with people---the shyness disapppears. ;)

10. When I was really young, like 2 years old or something,
I used to think that people who played Tennis were arguing on who was supposed to keep the ball. See at that time, the word "sports" meant only, and exclusively "hockey". Don't worry, I grew out of it pretty fast. ;)

13. Our House Was on the Battle of Westport Battlegrounds
When my mother first told me about the Civil War, she told me it happened before I was born. I thought she meant *right* before I was born, and it was being fought on the front yard as my parents left to go the hospital with my mother in labor. I was four, and had a loose grasp of time.

21. When I was around 13 or so I thought it would be
a cool idea to change the color of my nail polish EVERY DAY. I did this for around a month or so. My nails started to peel like onion peels..they were so dried out. I cut them short and stopped this crazy new habit of mine but I ruined my nails irreparably. Ever since then they have grown all uneven, some with ridges in them. What a stupid thing to do. My nails were like my Mom's--very nice. Now I have to keep them short because they look just weird if they have any length to them because they are so deformed. Meantime all my sisters still have very nice nails. The stupid things some of us do when we are kids......:banghead:

22. I was cleaning my gun and accidentally shot
Archduke Ferdinand and Sophie, but was too much of a coward to admit to it so handed the gun to the Serbian guy sitting next to me, and I ran like hell.

I figure after all this time, it's time for me to come clean.

Truthfully, I thought the gun was empty; and after the first shot, I was sure it was empty. Talk about egg on my face! Well, it all ended okay, so no harm done.

40. Bet you could pick it back up...
I learned as a child, too. Then my mom taught me to crochet and I liked that better. Eventually, when I was in my thirties, I decided I wanted to knit so I went to the hobby store, bought an instruction book and taught myself. Everything that my mother had taught me came right back and now...

Watch out...edible undies, here I come!!!

29. ...
In 10th grade Latin I had to memorize a speech by Cicero, and I needed a weird way to make it "stick"-- so I memorized all of "De Amicitia" while standing on the edge of a bathtub.

Hey, it worked!
