Anyone looking for music to play while WWIII starts?
I *highly* recommend Hell March and Hell March 2 from the Red Alert and Red Alert 2 soundtracks, respectively.

Both are basically just technoish videogame music, but they do, I feel, convey that general feeling of war gone wild.

1. How about everything played by the string ensemble while the
Titanic was sinking? In an endless loop.

3. I dunno about you, but I'm terrified.
Been extremely dismayed since things blew up in the Middle East, but only today did I realize that Israel has nukes. Now I'm terrified.

9. Oh yes
Don't worry too much though. There is a significant chance this will go nuclear and as an added bonus there are many rumors that Syria has had a nuclear stockpile for a long time. Regardless, here are the fact breakdowns (according to The CIA World Factbook) :

(Mind you this is raw troop numbers, not counting tanks, planes, ships and other war machines)

Syria: 4,356,413 (thats just men alone, but numbers are comparable for women as well)
Iran: 18,319,545
Israel: 1,492,125 (same amount for women as well, so lets say 3 mil)
Jordan: 1,573,995
Lebanon: 974,363

These numbers are of course the pool of troops they can pull via conscription, with larger amounts available for broader conscriptions.

I give the odds of nukes :nuke: being used as at least 50%. However, it will be limited use and essentially a tactical exchange.

It's a video of game play from Red Alert 2 with Hell March 2 playing in the background. Someone on You tube has a video of Rising Force online with Hell March 2 playing.

11. This song from the late, great Woody Guthrie
So Long, It's Been Good To Know Yuh (Dusty Old Dust)

I've sung this song, but I'll sing it again,
Of the place that I lived on the wild windy plains,
In the month called April, county called Gray,
And here's what all of the people there say:

So long, it's been good to know yuh;
So long, it's been good to know yuh;
So long, it's been good to know yuh.
This dusty old dust is a-gettin' my home,
And I got to be driftin' along.

A dust storm hit, an' it hit like thunder;
It dusted us over, an' it covered us under;
Blocked out the traffic an' blocked out the sun,
Straight for home all the people did run,
Singin':

We talked of the end of the world, and then
We'd sing a song an' then sing it again.
We'd sit for an hour an' not say a word,
And then these words would be heard:

Sweethearts sat in the dark and sparked,
They hugged and kissed in that dusty old dark.
They sighed and cried, hugged and kissed,
Instead of marriage, they talked like this:
"Honey..."

Now, the telephone rang, an' it jumped off the wall,
That was the preacher, a-makin' his call.
He said, "Kind friend, this may the end;
An' you got your last chance of salvation of sin!"

The churches was jammed, and the churches was packed,
An' that dusty old dust storm blowed so black.
Preacher could not read a word of his text,
An' he folded his specs, an' he took up collection,
Said:

the late sixties early seventies. I think some trippy Arab space music would be appropriate... not to far from your suggestion.

It used to terrify me when it came out - considering I lived right near a couple of nuclear power stations.

Every Bomb You Make
(Written by Quentin Reynolds and James Glen)

Every bomb you make
Every job you take
Every heart you break
Every Irish wake
I'll be watching you

Every wall you build
Every one you've killed
Every grave you've filled
All the blood you've spilled
I'll be watching you

Oh, can't you see
You belong to me?
There'll be a bill to pay
On your judgement day

For every empty plate
Every word of hate
When you subjugate
When you violate
I'll be watching you

26. Heaven Is Falling

The incomparable Bad Religion

"Heaven Is Falling"

As I walk beneath the valley
I shall fear no evil
for thanks to King George and his rainbow cabinet
today murder is legal
God I know that it's wrong
to kill my brother for what he hasn't done

and as the planes blacken the sky
it sounds like heaven is falling
it sounds like heaven is falling
you promises me a new day a'dawning
I've seen a thousand points of light
like so many points of hatred, shame and horror

God I want to be a man
but I don't want to die with a rifle in my hand

and as the planes blacken the sky
it sounds like heaven is falling
it sounds like heaven is falling
you promised me a new day a'dawning
well nothing here looks new to me
but a score of mothers' sons
caught 'tween the devil and the deep blue sea

27. "Red Ink Superman" by Robert Pollard
At the end of the song, Pollard prophetically repeats,

"We'll even the score
In World War IV"

over and over until the song fades out.

I couldn't help but think of that line while I watched CNN last night.

28. Armageddon Days are here (again) by The The
That's what I have been listening to

Ready Jesus?
Buddha?
Mohammed?

OK Fellas, let's go!!!

They're 5 miles high as the crow flies
leavin' vapour trails against a blood red sky
Movin' in from the East toward the West
with Balaclava helmets over their heads, yes!

But if you think that Jesus Christ is coming
Honey you've got another thing coming
If he ever finds out who's hi-jacked his name
He'll cut out his heart and turn in his grave

Islam is rising
The Christians mobilising
The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds

It's war, she cried, It's war, she cried, this is war
Drop your possessions, all you simple folk
You will fight them on the beaches in your underclothes
You will thank the good lord for raising the union jack
You'll watch the ships sail out of the harbour
and the bodies come floating back

But if you think that Jesus Christ is coming
Honey you've got another thing coming
If he ever finds out who's hi-jacked his name
He'll cut out his heart and turn in his grave

Islam is rising
The Christians mobilising
The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds

If the real Jesus Christ were to stand up today
He'd be gunned down cold by the C.I.A.
Oh, the lights that now burn brightest behind stained glass
Will cast the darkest shadows upon the human heart
But God didn't build himself that throne
God doesn't live in Israel or Rome
God doesn't belong to the yankee dollar
God doesn't plant the bombs for Hezbollah
God doesn't even go to church
And God won't send us down to Allah to burn
No, God will remind us what we already know
That the human race is about to reap what it's sown

Islam is rising
The Christians mobilising
The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds

The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds
Armageddon days are here again
