Accept it losers! Cheech and Chong were not funny!

At least not when you're sober. Sure, if you're smoked they might be funny, but then again a lot of things are funny when you're high.

1. I disagree.
I was laughing at their movies long before I started toking.

The Corsican brothers movie sucked though.

24. How would you like a butt ache?
I was as squeaky-clean a kid as you could find back in the '70s, and I thought Cheech & Chong were hilarious.

3. No, they weren't .
Try sitting through the Corsican Brothers without thoughts of suicide. Their other movies produced laughs if you were stoned but if you watch them sober they're an ordeal. Still, they're better than Pauly Shore.

6. heartily disagree
I listened to their albums long before I ever imbibed in any way and they were very good.

Now, none of their movies even came close to what they did on the albums, but the records were very funny without any alteration of state.

7. Are you kidding?
I've never used illicit substances, and I laugh my ass off over Cheech and Chong.

"Basketball Jones" will make me laugh till the day I die.

Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 09:30 PM by Strawman
Right up there with Art Metrano's Cpt. Mauser

Up in Smoke is a classic. And I loved Cheech and Chong's Greatest Hit before I'd ever even SEEN a real joint.

17. Well, I thought they were.
My parents took me to see their movies asa a kid and I laughed my ass off. Sure, it's broad humor, often gratuitously scatological, but much of it still translates: for instance, the use of mise-en-scene in "Things are Tough All Over" and "Nice Dreams" is pretty accomplished stuff - just watch the scene where Cheech is trying to cook pancakes in "Nice Dreams." They had a great sense of timing, too - the first twenty minutes of "Up in Smoke" is perfectly paced, with each set-up, punch line and visual gag falling neatly into place with clockwork precision (Cheech: "Hey man....am I driving okay?" 6 second pause. Chong: "I think we're parked, man...." Camera cuts to exterior of car, parked on side of highway.)

I've watched their movies as a sugar-buzzed 8 year-old, a stoned teenager, and a lucid, sober adult, and laughed every time. YMMV.

I tried to avoid anything my brothers liked. Richard Marin was funny in Cars, though.

the albums were hilarious. The Santa Claus and his magic dust bit is a classic.
