No, not the undergarments!
I went through a bad memory loss period a while back. Tried a lot of supplements, did some research. Nothing made any marked improvements on their own, at least not for me. I tried Ginko Biloba, but didn't see any results. I tried Ginseng. It didn't help my memory, but it seemed to increase my pain threshhold. Lecithin and flax oil actually did help a bit, I think. It's not easy to measure. Lecithin has been shown to help memory, and in fact lecithin is essentual to the chemical process that causes memory in the brain. Don't buy the liquid stuff if you try it, go for something like Lewis Labs granules. Something of decent quality.
I really didn't get very good results with supplements. I did two things that helped. One was a simple exercise I got from a book. It gave sets of numbers, starting with three digits and moving up to seven. You tried to glance at the numbers, glance quickly away, and envision the numbers again as you saw them. You start out with three digits, and eventually work up to seven. I guess you could go higher, I never really tried. It did help my instant recall quite a bit.
The other thing was much more dramatic, and I've only stuck with part of it. I changed my diet completely. I became a vegetarian (for other reasons), then cut all saturated fats, trans fats, sugars, white flours, dairy, etc, from my diet. Veggies, whole grains, legumes, soy, was all I ate for about three months. I also worked out furiously, an hour a day. I got to where I ran about four miles a day, five days a week. I lost about twenty pounds, but more, my head cleared up like you wouldn't believe. Sharp memory, sharper communication skills, everything. And more energy than I could handle. Best shape of my life, easily.
Then I got allergies, a sore knee, and the weather got cold, and I slacked off the running, so I picked up some weight, then eventually, slowly, lost my perfect diet. The good thing is, I didn't return to where I was before. My memory is still much better than it was when I started the diet, even though I'm back to the same weight, and only a slightly better diet (still vegetarian, though).
Anyway, those were my experiences. Your mileage may vary, as may your desire to alter your lifestyle.
