And I love pop/punk such as Avril Lavinge, Green Day, and All American Rejects. A new one that I love, Cheyenne Kimball, at times rocks harder than other females in her genre. It seems too often in the pop/punk genre, the males have nasal vocals that sound alike, though.

I share your philosophy, though - don't take music too personally. If you enjoy a band, why worry about what others say.

I think the reason I like Fall Out Boy is that the music itself has a noticable post-hardcore influence (though much cathier/melodic and somewhat upbeat). Throw on top of that that their melodies are catchy as fuck and I just can't help but like them.
