1. Hildi is an insult
to home decorating. If she pulled any of that crap in my house I'd slap her silly. Did you see when she spray painted those couches hot pink and then left them out in the rain? She has no respect for anyone whose house she's decorating.

2. I was appalled
And so was my wife. Hildy's cute, but she's insane. First Moss, then FEATHERS now cardboard! What's next? Fish scales? Honestly.

6. Ty made a beautiful bed and the fabric was nice, but the cardboard?
Hildi really is insane. Her team worked really, really hard, but it's obvious the homeowners have little to no say in what goes on in those rooms. They were really upset to do that to their friends. The salt in the wound comes from seeing Frank's room... absolutely gorgeous.

8. Frank is awesome.
Hildy needs counseling. Ty did a great job on the bed. If I owned the home, I'd burn the freakin' cardboard and keep the bed.

5. Cardboard?
Edited on Sat Dec-13-03 10:44 PM by alphafemale
Wouldn't that be a serious fire hazard?

Not to mention cardboard is unwashable. And it is going to collect microbes and dust in it like crazy.

Also. As an added joy roaches are attracted to cardboard. They see it as a pre built village.

What losers let these people destroy their houses for a few moments face time on the dumdown box?

7. Oh dear god.
That sounds hideous! She should be doing exhibits at a modern art museum, not home decorating. I wouldn't let her spruce up a shanty for a homeless person.

10. I've often wondered if she drinks
She never seems to be blitzed on the show, but I've sort of gathered that impression. Genevieve seems stoned every once in a while. And I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Frank spends a lot of nights crying himself to sleep.

My hunch on Hildi is that she's probably stopped caring; she probably got tired of trying to do Park Avenue design in "2 days with a thousand dollar budget" that the yokel homeowners generally hate anyway, so she's taken the Doug Wilson route of mocking the whole thing with the most ludicrous abomination she can come up with (anyone else see Doug's "Prison of Love" bedroom?). I've read a couple of articles on the show and apparently because of the haste with which everything is done a lot of the work starts to deteriorate within a few days or weeks anyway; the paint starts to peel and the carpentry projects fall apart. In a way I can't blame her for just wanting to throw crap on the wall and be done with it. If she left the show the producers would probably just get another "zany" designer anyway because, let's face it, I think sometimes we watch for the same reason some sick people go to car races.

16. it sure as hell is flammable
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 12:15 AM by Gargoyle
that cardboard has a high flame spread rating. If practical, interior finish materials should have a flame spread rating of 25 or less and a smoke developed rating of 50 or less as determined by the ASTM E-84 (NFPA 255) test.

In general, inorganic materials such as brick or tile are Class I materials. Whole wood materials are usually Class II, while reconstituted wood materials such as plywood, particle board or hardboard are Class III. Whole wood is defined as wood used in the same form as sawn from the tree.

If that house were in my jurisdiction, I would require an application of a Class 1 interior flame retardant. As an example, the foam used at the Station Club in Rhode Island burned at 2 1/2 feet per second.

13. Which city was the cardboard one in?
I saw it but missed the first part. There were 2-3 episodes filmed in Nashville recently and one is close to me. I think the feathers were done here but I am not sure. I keep forgetting to watch.

Paige Davis was even dressed up like a Southern Belle at the beginning of the show.

14. In the Recent Mad Parody
the Hidli character stapled frogs and caterpillars to the walls to create a sense of being outdoors. Then, when they died, she stapled apples and bananas to the walls. It was very funny, and actually not too far off!

15. Painting of herself?
Is Hildi the one who did a painting of herself, in dots, on one wall?

I think it was a show with two sets of roommates--women soccer players or volleyball players, I think.

I'm sure she wasn't out of there 5 minutes before they ran out and got a can of Hide-All Primer.

17. I love it
I stopped watching the show for a while because it was becoming so predictable. How many times can you watch Laurie decorate a room using orange, yellow, brown, and/or green before it gets boring?

I look forward to watching Hilde destroy rooms. Where is Doug when you need him?
