Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are close to finalizing their divorce, according to court documents.

The couple, who split last year, have both signed papers requesting the divoce be bifurcate, which means they can decide any financial settlement between them.

Web site TMZ.com obtained the documents, which were filed at Los Angeles Superior Court. They have asked that retired Judge Dana Senit Henry is appointed "for the sole purpose of (SNIP) with respect to the bifurcated issue of the termination of marital status."

Lachey, who is reportedly dating MTV star Vanessa Minnillo, recently revealed he has yet to get over (SNIP).

He said, "I'm in the process, but I've been consumed with the album and haven't had a chance to feel sorry for myself.

"I think it's a process. I don't know if I'll ever be over Jessica."
