4. Yeah, the there's a drought of anything but the local accent, around here.
So I have to take it where I can get it!

3. Count me in too!
:loveya: When I was in Scotland in 2000, we had a waiter at one of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants I'd ever eaten in, and this guy was yummy too... Told us "the story of haggis", and his exact words were: "After the nobles had their fill, the peasants were left with the shite, so that's all they had to eat. They fixed up things as best they could, and haggis was the result." God, I could have looked at him for hours...

7. *sigh* He had dark brown hair and...
...was trim but not skinny. I'd say he was 30-ish at the time. His accent wasn't one of the really hard-to-understand ones. Yummmm....:D

12. Holy fucking shit Ewan is so HOT. Even without the accent. But yes, the
accent makes him hotter than the surface of the sun.

Oh, and in Finding Neverland, Johnny Depp was rocking my clock with that Scottish accent (which my Scottish friend told me was pretty good).

movie. I saw it yesterday. Pretty damned funny. Review will be up on 07/07/08 (opening nationwide). He's using an English accent, I believe -- sounds like Cockney -- and lots of eyeshadow, and those Rasta curls. Here's Johnny:

British actor Bill Nighy is in the movie. He plays Davy Jones -- you won't believe the almost-human/sea creatures in this movie! Pretty outstanding, but total fantasy!

Here's Bill (artistic conception):

as for Scots accents - it really does depend which one - some are utterly swoonworthy for sure.

15. I want to get naked and have one speak all over me
I worked with a guy from Scotland for a few months back in the 90's--late 20's/early thirties, stocky build, dark close-cropped (just above a buzz cut) hair, usually in T-shirts and jeans. Every time he saw me in the convenience center and smiled and said just the two-syllable word "Hello," it was all I could do to keep from flushing beet-red on the spot.

It wasn't that he was the handsomest man I'd ever seen, or the hunkiest, etc. But there was something about all those slightly-better-than-average factors combined with that warm burr of a voice.....oh baby.

And yes, others from "the Isles" (Brits, Irishmen and Welsh) have the same effect on me.

33. Come to NC!
Having been settled by Scots, there's stil plenty of kilt-wearing around here (ceremonially, of course)

And every summer there's The Highland Games...

On a side note, my husband traveled alot as a kid; I think he was in ALMOST all the continental states, and NC was his favorite. If we had the money one day, I'm sure I could convince him to go back; I"d just have to pretend that it wasn't for the purpose of doing some kilt-scoping!
