I'm dying...no air conditioning.
I've had the week from hell. No, seriously. I'll spare you the details of how awful it's been before today, but suffice it to say that I did NOT want to come to work today.

So imagine my unhappiness when I walk into the building and realize it's a tad bit warm. And then I open the door to my office and get smacked with air that feels like it came from a blast furnace.

It's nearly 85 degrees at 11 am and my office's air conditioning is BROKEN. To make matters worse, our windows don't open.

It's already hotter inside than it is outside. And it's only Thursday.

1. My dear huskerlaw!
Oh, sweetie....how freaking awful for you!

I am sooo sorry!

I'd give you a hug,but that would just make it worse!

I hope they'll fix it pronto!

 Well, virtual hugs won't heat you up any!

4. Thanks.
I can actually feel it getting warmer. Not a good sign.

I'm hoping they send us home early, but my bosses keep hoping they'll get it fixed. I'm told it's a problem with the computer that runs the a/c and not the a/c itself, so I suppose they may fix it.

5. Thanks!
Well thankfully, we're not in Texas! But yeah, it's pretty awful. And it's humid today for some reason.

They've mentioned sending us home, but they keep thinking it'll get fixed. We'll see how they feel when the temp gets to 90. ;)

3. I just moved into a new condo ...
this place has central air. The rathole apartment I left as of last Friday didn't. One night last week, I was drenched in sweat trying to sleep in the livingroom. There was a digital thermometer on the wall and at 11pm, it was 93 degrees in my apartment!

Thank God it's over.

6. OMG
that's HORRIBLE! I feel bad complaining about my lack of a/c now. I can't even imagine trying to sleep in a 93 degree room.

But I'm glad you've moved and have central air now!

7. I feel your pain!
Our home a/c went out about a month or so ago, and it was awful. Fortunately, we had it fixed the next day. If it's THAT hot in your building, they need to send you home. Many buildings were not made for non-a/c conditions (i.e. no windows to open) and in essence become ovens. :( I hope you get some relief soon.

10. I'd so much rather
my work a/c be broken than the one at home. I'm a slave to manufactured cool air. ;)

Unfortunately, yes, this building is one of those that turns into an oven. It's only 11:25, so I'm hoping as it gets hotter outside my bosses catch a clue and send us home. I suppose the good thing is that they're stuck in here too!

9. Huskerlaw, I hear ya, loud and clear.
I think the entire LA/Orange County area has
been turned into one huge sauna for the past week!

We aren't use to high humidity and heat. Heat we can take, up to a point.

Here, in Costa Mesa, it's still hot- Newport Beach had 90 degrees, yesterday.
Add to that an uninsulated house with 3/4 " wood roof in the living room and
it's bad!

Drink lots of fluids and ask your boss if he/she can get a lot of fans in there, pronto!

Good luck, dear lady!
You are not alone in your suffering.

:hi: :pals:

11. It really is ridiculously
hot and humid. I can deal with hot, but I didn't sign up for the humidity. x(

I suppose I should be glad I work in downtown LA rather than in the Valley...where it's a good 10 degrees hotter.

Good call on the liquids...I'll go grab some bottled water. ;)

12. You have no idea how I sympathize!!
One of my AC units died on Sunday. I live in the Phoenix area where temps have been around 104... It's almost 90 degrees in my house right now but help has finally arrived. The new heatpump unit is here and should be installed in the hour!!!

I'm doing a happy dance! I hope things improve soon for you too!

No air conditioning...in PHOENIX?!

Now THAT is awful!

Wait to do your happy dance until everything's fixed and cooled off, it would be a shame to get the heat stroke now. ;)

21. hahahaha
Nebraska.

January.

Wind so cold your nose hairs freeze and it hurts to breathe.

The car's covered in 12 inches of snow.

With 2 inches of ice underneath.

Oh shit, I just slipped and fell on my ass.

Cold and wet.

And the car door's frozen shut.

...I don't think I'm actually any cooler, but at least now I can think of weather that would suck even worse! :woohoo:

I don't understand how people live in Minnesota during the winter. Nebraska was barely fit for humans.

26. Yeah that's my fault
When I first moved out here I was like, "Hey it get's pretty cool here at night, who needs AC??"

Dumb move.

I am going to get a unit soon though so as to avoid waking up in a pool of my own sweat every morning.

Hope your job fixes the AC soon.
