work related question....
Why do manager types always ignore me when
I say hello to them. Do they really think they are
better than me or is it some power trip thing they
learned in how to be an asshole school.
I work with some ego-centric gov people.

1. Try this
when you see them say good morning and smile. Do the same thing everyday no matter what, just do it. Act as if you are happy to see them, until you really are. It never fails to loosen the crusty edges of the most serious and annoying big shots. You'll most likely find that they look forward to seeing you.

2. They are very bad manager types if they do that.
The Executive Director here treats his Senior Team with the same regard as he treats the Administrative Assistants or the Maintenance Staff. And if he ever saw one of us not return a Hello to any co-worker, he would have a serious discussion with us.

I would say something to them. It reflects badly on them professionally.

I think it's unacceptable.

14. I've been in your same position
Sort of, with a city government entity. Contractors were usually paid more, had better, more up to date skills and made regular city workers look bad as far as production and quality. If you actually worked for more than 3.5 hours in a normal 8 hour day you were considered overzealous and you were trying to impress the department heads so that they would fire somebody who was a city employee and hire you in their position.

4. Fall to your knees and beg to lick their shoes
Seriously, do these holiest-of-holies deserve any less?

And shame on you for presuming beyond your station.

7. No, no, no. You're just not getting it
If you submit your ego at the door, you still haven't properly subjugated yourself. You're merely putting yourself on hold, so to speak, while you endure the degredation.

But if you really want to ingratiate yourself to them, you have to re-train your ego to enjoy the humiliation and abuse. Otherwise, you're just going through the motions.

I hope that this little lesson will prove helpful to you.

9. Now you're getting it!
When you become actualized to the fact that you're not even worthy of the humiliation, you'll be well on your way to permanent corporate servitude, and you'll love it!

15. It's a power thing.
Being able to ignore people is a show of status. Maybe not even a deliberate one, but it's still based on power. They would never dare do that to someone who was their equal or higher than them.

16. Try this- "Good morning dip-shit".
At least you will know if they're really ignoring you or just pretending.
