She lies beneath the fig tree
and remembers the shops and the vendors and the talk of things that are about to change and remembers the fear. Before her father lay bleeding beside her. She remembers the quiet the silence at night before these things brought new silence. She hears the vehicles roll by carrying death and foreigners to change her world. The old silence returns and she gets up to take her baby water.

1. Tom...that was so painfully beautiful...and should be re-posted
when all are reading, 'tho it would never get to the eyes and ears of those who believe that we are fighting them there, so we don't have to fight them here. Bring it home...bring it home... Ms.Tomintib

5. Tom, you might want to cross-post this in the Writer's Forum.....
So it can be put on the Greatest Page.... This is truly beautiful, and meaningful as well.... I thank you for it! K&R....

I really don't think that it's fair that Lounge threads can't go on the Greatest Page... BTW, my dear mods...I have already talked to Skinner about this... He told me it isn't practical on a case by case basis to decide if a Lounge thread is worthy of being on the Greatest Page....

It's odd, but every single post of mine was moved here today... Someone had a hard on for me and wanted to bait me for my antiwar stance as far as I can tell.

9. I think poems and essays should be allowed in GD
I never go to the lounge. Anyone I want to deal with or want critiques from are in GD. Just my two cents.
