Can Joe Mauer challenge Ted Williams?
Can he get to .400?

He has a sweet looking swing like WIlliams did.

Came into the game tonight batting .377 and is 4 for 4 tonight!

9 for 10 in his last two games...this guy is amazing...and he is a frickin catcher.

They are within single digits of the White Sox though...still alot of season left...

And they are doing this without Shannon Stewart!

Easy, nothing matters outside the northeast
I remember the last ALCS at the dome a few years ago. Fox Sports just ripped into the dome when they had to play there but gushed about Anaheim's stadium and team non-stop. I had to mute the TV and put WCCO on.

I expect Santana and maybe Nathan will get picked...probably about it...

Mauer and Morneau are deserving though...and i'd add Liriano for good measure!

I hope he and Reyes will anchor the Mets infield for many years. Unfortunately my guy is batting a big nothing tonight, oh well .330 is still nothing to sneeze at.

That and Wright is a hottie! :P

20. And the trades...
That Pierczynski trade has got to be the most lopsided of all time. Liriano, Nathan and Bonser for A.J...

A.J.'s not a bad catcher and all, but brother...what a heist...

And Santana acquired in the Rule 5 draft...

Great scouting!

LaTroy is languishing in Baltimore...get him back...send Loshe to the Orioles.

Hawkins found his niche as a middle reliever.

49. yeah right now
but over the course of the season, it is tough. A guy might get even get a hit that day and it'll dip his average down several points. The pressure once a season goes on gets unbearable too. Like George Brett, Larry Walker, some of those guys who made serious runs at hitting 400, they were right in there until the last month of the season and ended up dropping several points in average at that point, some due to living in a pressure cooker. They stilled played pretty well, but in order to do it you have to be on an unreal tear for 162 games over the course of 7 months. Hitting 400 is damn near impossible nowadays, let alone hitting 406 like Ted did. You can forget about anybody breaking George Sisler's record, that is like 422 or something. Good luck. :)

He's too young and plays a position that grinds on people. He's a good hitter, but .400 is beyond him.
