12. Wow! Glad to hear you're okay! Been to see a Dr yet?
I was in a serious wreck three weeks ago and messed up my leg pretty bad (shattered my tibia just below the plateau - the orthopaedist said it was the worst he'd ever seen - great, huh?). Anyhow, the odd thing was that a week later, I started getting odd pains all over my body. I'm in PT now and mentioned it to my therapist and he said it's probably a post-traumatic thing but should bring it up with my orthopaedist. If you're a bit sore now, you'll probably be a lot more sore later. Get yourself checked, just in case.

And cars can be replaced - or not, as in my case. I wrecked my Porsche 928 S4 ;( and I've decided not to get another. You can say I grew up a bit that night...

21. I never saw my car after the wreck...
I passed out from shock (last thing I remember was being cut out of the car), but everyone who has seen it says that I'm lucky to have made it. I'm confined to the couch for the time being, but a friend of mine is going down to the yard tomorrow to take pictures of it. If anyone's interested, I'll post them tomorrow night...

Seriously, have yourself checked out. Hey, they might give you something good for pain. I've been wasted on Vicadin for the last two weeks. That's why this post is rambling...

18. I was turning into a restaurant.
the restaurant is 5 doors from the intersection. I was turning left. The light was red. One car had stopped in the left oncoming lane. I was clear. Suddenly a big assed Toyata Sequioa Street tank came hauling ass around the other intersection and slammed into me...breaking the rear axel and pinning the back right door on my car shut. I spun around in the parking lot and hit a volvo and a honda. Looks like I hit the trifecta.

22. Would you do me a favor (just to humor me)?
Have Termite check your pupils and make sure they're the same size. Between the neck and the numbness, I just want to know you don't have a concussion. Trust me -- I've had them.
I'd rather you go to the hospital, but you sound like you want to tough this out. Going to sleep in your condition can be a bad idea.
I had my right coronary artery collapse four years ago and walked to the hospital because I thought I'd wrenched my back (I'd been having pain for a couple of weeks, which kept getting worse).
Finally, one morning, I woke up from a sound sleep and thought I needed pain killers (I'd run out of aspirin). It turned out I needed $42,000 worth of medical work and a stent. If I'd gone back to sleep, I'd be dead now.
John
Go to Redi-Med or go to the ER.

26. So was mine (speed was definitely a factor)...
But you shouldn't bum about it. Like you told me, things could've been worse, but you're here and amongst friends talking about it. I guess that's the thing that kept me from feeling sorry for myself was that I cheated death.

Put on Pearl Jam's "Alive" and sing the chorus at the top of your lungs - and pump your fist in the air! (See what I mean about the Vicadin?)

27. Please go to the doctor/Emerg, sooner, not later!
When my fiance had his major accident (someone dropped a tv camera on his head), he called me that afternoon and *refused* to go to the Emerg. Ten days later, he collapsed from the pain he'd at first not noticed (shock) and then had been ignoring and trying to "wait out." He hasn't been back to work since, it looks like he'll never go back to work again, and the injuries are permanent.

I can only wonder what might have happened if he'd gotten prompt attention and a thorough series of neurological tests before he'd walked around with his injuries for a couple weeks (at least).

My opinion is, it's better to be safe than sorry, and better to take care of a "little nothing" before it becomes a "big something." Especially with the symptoms you're describing, I wouldn't take any chances. Please get checked out ASAP!!

28. Geez, what is it about Seattle DUers, cars, and December 12th?
Granted, 12/12 is a date that will live in infamy anyway, but your accident occured on the third anniversary of the day an idiot in an old Cadillac tried to make a left turn out of a Totem Lake gas station without checking for oncoming traffic, and totaled my Honda Accord. Yes, it was the same day as the SCOTUS decision. As a matter of fact, the accident was the reason I didn't even hear about that until later in the evening, when I called my parents to let them know I was O.K., and they first thought I had called to vent...

30. get yourself checked out
my partner developed this weird looking rash - I made her go to the doctor - turned out to be shingles, and they caught in time

then a couple of months later she fell in the driveway - after telling her to go to the doctor for three days, she finally did - she had broken her arm up next to the shoulder

this past october she fell again (in the driveway) twisted her ankle up pretty good, I told her to go the doctor, get it checked out - she wouldn't - now two months later it's still aching - she has doctor appointment on Tuesday. I suspect that she had broken or cracked her ankle, but she wouldn't listen to me about getting it checked out

if it was broken and now has healed wrong - the only option is to break it again and set it properly... or surgery of some sort...

sooooooooo please - don't take any chances thinking it's something "minor" - get yourself checked out ASAP
