Message from TIA:
Mods, admins, I hope this doesn't cross any lines with anyone. I know many DUers have wondered how he's doing, so I'm posting this. If it's not appropriate, please remove. Thanks!

I just got home yesterday. I'm here because of your prayers and a wife who fought for me non-stop.

I had heart surgery on Feb. 18 and spent the next four months in two hospitals. The first one wrote me off a month later. They told my wife there was nothing they could do. They said my heart was functioning at 10% and would never go above 15% (the typical range for healthy people is 50%-70%).

Of course, I didn't know this. I was heavily sedated and suffered horrific hallucinations that I will never forget. My wife demanded that I be transferred to another hospital to receive proper care. In the new hospital, my heart progressed to 35% functionality after six weeks. Then I began three weeks of physical therapy. I'm sure I'm over 40% now.

The lesson from all this: Get regular checkups. Know that doctors are human and fallible. And have an advocate (friend, spouse, etc.) who will not just give up but will fight for you when you can't fight for yourself.
Like the media election spin doctors, don't just accept the original diagnoses.

Once again, I was profoundly touched by your prayers and comments. In the meantime, I am continuing my therapy at home. I've covered selection 2004 in many posts. I'm glad my analysis has been well received.

Frankly, there is nothing more for me to say about 2004. I leave that to RFK Jr., Steve Freeman, Ron Baiman, that indefatigble patriot, Autorank, etc..

Cheers,
TIA

2. TIA worked so hard in the aftermath of 2004...
So, much effort... Bless him and may the work put forward help
the election reform movement reach it's goals.

Take it easy, TIA... Thanks more than I can say for your time and energy.

It's in good hands and I think ultimately reform will win!

Praying for you, and thanks for posting this wonderfully hopeful message Babylonsister.

An Uncle died many years ago because he was in the wrong hospital, and he knew it. The message here is don't give-up. Get more then 1 opinion. One might love their M.D. but that does not mean they've not missed something, or know everything there is to know.

Great post.

62. Let's all fight for each other, the way TIA's wife fought for him...
for the chance to be recognized, to be heard.

I have never met anyone, stronger, smarter, weaker, stupider, richer, poorer, more elegant or crude, faster, slower, ponderous, calculating, innocent, manipulative, kinder, crueler, sick or healthy, expedient, decorous, firm or wishy-washy, young, old, crippled, prescient, confounding, clear, credible, suspect, awesome, titillating, shy, show-offish, sharing, caring, and corrupt, dazzling and deminuative...(than me) without learning

They have all known something I haven't known.

the thread is woven tighter when nuance is allowed so I would fight for everyone's right to be heard because it makes the whole cloth of our lives more right.

even though a broad swath of democratic voices now seem to be muffled, it could just as easily, too, be conservative voices swaddled tight by protective and controlling parents.

Let us ALL be heard

(and TIA helped in recognizing the cacophony and wished a symphony); hats off to the man with the baton...and a good heart, and an ear for music...

Best Wishes.

56.  WELCOME BACK TIA!!!!!!!! Stella, Thanks for the "wake up call"
What better way to start a Sunday than a 'wake up call' from Stella!!!!

I'm still in mild shock at the good news but have now processed it fully.

TIA IS RECOVERING, WELL, WITH US

Stella, does this mean I have to go to church;)

This is a great event and I'm thrilled for TIA, his wife and wonderful sister, and the rest of
the people who care so much about him.

Talk about poetic justice...just 24 days after the RFK Jr article, amid the free-fall of
the * administration, and the emergence of election 2004 Truth, we get this message.

Thank you Stella!!! and Babylonsister!!!

or lack thereof dear one.

Aaaand if you continue to respond so graciously to wake up calls I may have to alert all your other stalkers to your phone number and relating it to this most recent phenomenon.

Woohoo "wake up autorank at 7 am" "wake up autorank at 8 am." "wake up autorank at 9 am.. . .etc"

I'm conceptualizing an elegantly elaborate schedule as I type.

Bwahhhhhhhhh.

No. . . but seriously, thank the creatrix, TIA, his good wife and sis for their good efforts and babylon sis for posting. . .

45. Can we email hospitals involved with Cheers and Jeers?
Simple, non-accusatory emails stating that the first hospital should find out what the second hospital did differently, because a prognonsis of "NEVER rising above 15% functionality" was quickly disproved with only six weeks of a change in therapy.

Hospital A could learn a way to provide better service for their patients.

Hospital B should be lavished with praise for being able to treat correctly such a difficult case and bring about a result that kept a family together in the most fundamental of ways - by keeping a family member alive to be with his family.

67. Just caught up with this news! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Put the biggest smile on my face in about six years!!!!!

Some day TIA will be written about the way they write books about Thomas Jefferson and Tom Paine! His amazing analysis of the 2004 election over many months time, non-stop, was the singularly most important act of patriotism we will ever witness. It was "the shot heard round world" of American Revolution II.

Here's to you, TIA! You've done your part! It's up to the rest of us and to the American people now! Stay well!

TIA has been in my thoughts, he's one of the main reasons I joined DU.

WE LOVE YOU TIA!

69. Oh this is such good news. We love you, TIA!!!
You are a true American hero and a patriot. :patriot: It does my heart good to be able to link the word American with a positive virtue; it's becoming somewhat rare these days. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

71. Wow, what great news!
I was so impressed with TIA's analyses, both before and after 2004. And, I was so bummed to hear that he was seriously ill. Just happened to be browsing DU today, and luckily ran across this thread -- SOOO glad to hear he is on the mend!

77. You carried a very heavy baton...
...and as you say it has now been handed over to fine fellow luminaries.

Beyond that, literally millions are now running with it in their smaller arenas.

We all owe you much. But best wishes will have to be enough.

83. Happy, Happy Day!
I've been away most of the weekend and feeling very emotional--thought it was just a bit of a hormonal surge. Now, I see this wonderful news about TIA and I now understand!

Best, best wishes on your continued recovery, TIA. It must seem a bit strange knowing so many "relative" strangers were so concerned about you. Hopefully, it is also reassuring. Given all the horror in this world, so many people really do care...

Thank, God for your determined wife, as well. Happy, Happy, Day!

89. Thank you for stepping forward TruthIsAll.
Neither you nor your wife settled for things as they appeared to be, and we are all the better for it.

You've made our nation stronger, and may healing continue to strengthen your beautiful heart.

Rest well, and live well knowing you are loved and appreciated.

Great news and keep it up. That's terrific advice about regular checkups and loyal relentless advocates.

You know I don't agree with you that 2004 was stolen but I always admired your effort and passion. Hope you are posting regularly when your health allows it, elsewhere if not reinstatement here.
