I need your prayers and good thoughts, please.
My cat, Binky, is at the vet's, and will be having surgery in a few minutes. She has an abcessed tooth, is terribly dehydrated and weak. She is 16 years old, and the vet gives her a 50/50 chance of making it.

The vet was optimistic enough for me to be willing to try it, and see how she does. But I'm a mess, I've been crying all day, and my eyes are swollen. I won't know until later this afternoon how things go.

If you're so inclined, please say some prayers for Binky, and for me. Good wishes and happy thoughts are most welcomed, too.

10. Thank you.
My brother & his kids were just here, and left this morning. They offered to stay with me, but I didn't want to ruin the kids' vacation. I really, really appreciate it.

It depends on how quickly she gets her fluids built up. Then the vet will operate as soon as she can.

I just hope Binky gets better, tenfold.

50. UPDATE: She's out of surgery.
Because of her age, she is very groggy. The vet called me about an hour ago, and said she'd check on Binky later tonight. If need be, she'll call me. Otherwise, she might end up taking Binky home with her! to make sure she's doing OK. (What a vet!!) She's also going to call me tomorrow with an update.

I can't even begin to thank you all for your prayers and support. Around 3:00, I just was too weary and ended up taking a nap. I dreamed about my Mom, and it was very comforting. I took that as a sign that Binky is going to be OK.

Remember that Binky's fate is in God's hands. Either God will bless you by giving you more time with Binky (which seems most likely), or He will bring Binky home with your mother, where we shall all join them when our time on Earth is over.

:hug:s your way. Me and the zoo crew are all praying that Binky recovers and fast. Don't forget to stock up on baby food in case Binky wants to feel spoiled once home. (Thinking positive here) Just saw this as my net is still more off than on.

BTW ask you vet about Oxyfresh Pet Oral Hygiene Solution. After Ayja had a couple of his teeth pulled my vet put him on it. Now all the animals (except the birds) get it because after 4 months Ayja had no tartar at all and he was notorious for tartar build up. You just add it to their water.

So far, all is well I'll be so relieved to bring her home.

Oh, and at their last check-up, the vet recommended that I add a spoon of PUMPKIN to their food. It's supposed to really help older cats. I kept wondering how much Roo would have enjoyed that. :)

131. I'll have to ask about the pumpkin for
my cats, have to ask first since Ayja is diabetic. I have switch all of them to Innova Evo so Ayja can cheat on his diet with out knowing he isn't really cheating. Switch the dogs too, and all of them have gotten such shiny coats and it has really slowed down the shedding. And extra plus is the ferrets now think of cat Evo as a treat and it is much better for them than ferret treats.
Mojo is still hanging in there though I swear he has learned to cry just so he can have extra attention and extra chicken gruel I make him. He does not whimper for Terry who never does the chicken gruel. Jinx just got lupron shots added to keep her adrenal under control. She acts like nothing is wrong so not worrying yet. So far everyone else is healthy. *crossing fingers here* I have elderly ferrets now according to the vet. Glad to hear Binky is doing ok, I can't wait for you to get him home soon too, I know you will feel better once he is snuggling with you.

and also the birthday of my daughter's little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Porter, who turned ten years old.

I hope all goes well with your darling cat and that there will be some more time left for you and your sweet Binky in this world. "Frankly, if there is a heaven somewhere, there better be animals, too, because I won't go unless I get to see all the dogs and cats I've loved in my life."

111. I'm terribly late checking in Rev
But we're all sending the best quality vibes your way. We are currently dealing with some health issues with our eldest cat, Arawn. He too was dehydrated, seriously constipated, dental garbage and arthritis and fleas. He's probably older than we thought. (we got him as an adult from the humane society) These fur critters add so much to our days.
Let me know if the virtual hug is insufficient--you're just up the road, dear.

119. Hey, jonesie!
Binky's doing much better today! Frankly, I'm surprised. But the vet told me that if she thinks a cat has a fighting chance, she wants to give that cat a chance to survive.

If you're willing to drive 2 hours, bring Arawn to the Green Bay Cat Clinic. They are the absolute best I've ever seen.

Hey - you could bring him to the clinic, and stay here for a couple of days!

113. Cheers to Binky and to you Rev...Older cats...
are amazing animals. My late DC had to have his teeth cleaned four years ago, when he was 22 (yep, human years)and my Vet expressed the same misgivings about the anesthesia. The old guy came out of the anesthesia faster than any younger cat he had seen, and klived to a ripe old 26 (He passed two weeks ago, in his sleep, as I promised him (at home, with all of us here with him). I wish you well, and Binky too!

I'm so sorry for your loss, but wow - he was an old, old man! And how encouraging to hear stories of older cats who CAN recover and live a full and happy life!!!

I hope Binky comes home feeling oh-so much better after having that nasty abcessed tooth removed. I'll just bet he comes home with a lot more energy than he had before. I think the idea about baby food is a good one, at least until his mouth heals.

She cried with me when Roo died, and really felt my pain, helping me cope. In fact, because she helped me with Roo, I could handle Mom's death so much better. And somehow, I knew she'd find a way to let me know that she's with me.

Binky's doing so much better today, and I will hopefully bring her home on Monday! :bounce::bounce:
