1. I'm glad there are no pets in my office.
For those with allergies, this is ridiculous.

20. I love dogs and have had them around all of my life, but then
I developed an allergic reaction to them. Nothing life threatening, but a problem none the less. When our last one had to be put down, that was it for me.

If they were allowed at work, I would have to move elsewhere...

8. I doubt that it will
there will ALWAYS be somebody who says they are allergic or frightened of animals. We had this happen at our school. It was a vendetta one teacher had against another, who brought her dog in regularly. She complained that she was BOTH allergic and frightened, which was bull. But the dog went home.

Of course, there might BE some folks with honest issues.

4. We did this once at our office
Let anyone who wanted bring a pet into the office for the day. What a disaster!!! I loves my kitties, but would never even THINK about taking them to work with me.

9. We have it and I don't care for it
If I wanted to hear a dog bark while I'm on the phone getting work done, I'd work at home. And get a dog.

it was GREAT.

dogs loved it -- people loved it.

and made people realize they could relax and shop -- they weren't going to be hovered over.

13. I would have to quit my job. I'd be miserable all day because...
of my allergies. I love animals, but my body doesn't.

It's bad enough that we have Daffodil Day which has daffodils in the office for a couple of weeks every year.

humanized the place, ironically.

15. I wish I could
have Mr 'pede bring our poodle to my office, just once and briefly. I'd like him to bring him to the front door and see if he could "find mommie" in her cubeville by smell.

16. My boss used to bring his little dog in and we would have to babysit
I didn't mind so much - getting paid to play is better than working. :)

one of the truck drivers brought his little one in all the time, she rode with him.

We nursed 3 kittens for a few days (found them in a cardboard load) until we could find them homes.

I enjoyed it.

19. I've done this.
It was . . . OK. It was fun, but I didn't get any work done. It was a "bring your dog to work" day, so there were quite a few running around. All in all - I'd say leave the dogs home.

23. That would seriously piss me off.
I'm allergic to dogs and I don't need one jumping on me when I'm trying to get work done. I'm glad I've never had an office do that.

24. I went to a job interview once
where the prospective boss let his unhealthy-looking golden retriever gnaw on my hand the whole time. My hand was actually in his mouth up to the wrist for most of the interview. Oh, and the guy was also kind of a jerk.

Needless to say, I hightailed it out of there and never sent him the additional materials he wanted.

26. I used to work at one of the companies in the story
<snip> Dozens of dogs come to work with their owners at Replacements, Ltd., said Scott Fleming, president of the company that deals in china, crystal, silver and collectibles in McLeansville, North Carolina.

"They have not broken a single piece, which is more than I can say for the rest of us," Fleming said.<snip>

But I never brought my pets. Too much stress in our department back then to worry about critters running around the warehouse.

27. I've known of a few workplaces with an office cat
Can't really imagine trying to get work done with dogs around though. Sure, there are lazyassed low maintainance dogs who wouldn't get in your hair, but those are the dogs that don't mind being left home alone anyhow. My luck would be that it would go like this:

LM- "Hi this is **** I'm calling to speak to..."

Dog- "Bark!"

Other dog- "Bark!"

Doggie Chorus- "Bark Bark Bark Bark!"

Me- "Sorry, I'll call you back when I work for someplace sane."

thing would be a serious bummer in a workplace.

28. You know that annoying person? And that other annoying person?
And those two guys who are complete assholes?

And that one person wearing an entire bottle of perfume?

All of their pets are worse.

And they all want to shit in your cubicle.

Right now.

While you are getting files.

And you don't see it until it's too late.

Again.

Have a nice day! :-)

30. Cool. I worked at a store that did it.
No one there was allergic and the general manager would bring her westie to work. When the owner stopped in, she'd bring her westie and border/cattledog mix in. They all got along and it was never an issue. They didn't bark much and all well-behaved. It made the job more fun. If your day sucked, you could cheer it up a bit by wrestling with the dog for a few minutes.
