What a load of BULL (Dial-up warning)
One of the things I do (and yes, I get paid for it) is drive around the province around and go to livestock sales.

Most of the time I'm looking for trouble. Sometimes I see something that makes me go WOW.

Highland cattle are small, generally docile cattle originally from the Highlands of Scotland (hence the name lurkers).

I saw one on Monday that was not small,

he was not docile, he was just chock full of testosterone. Apparently they had some difficulty loading him because he has discovered that he can hook his horns into a lot of gates and lift them off the hinges. That didn't work here only because the top and bottom hinges face each other- it certainly wasn't due to lack of trying on his part.

Now I'm not afraid of bulls, I've spent too much time with them. You need to be aware and sometimes cautious, but with practice, you can get close to most bulls and many are halter-broken. So I decided to get some closer pictures. The degraded quality is due to the fact I was moving fast.

and finally, not a bull, but too cute NOT to be included.

BTW, I use real film, continuity of evidence and all. The scratches aren't on the prints, dunno where they came from.

1. yeehaw
Glad to know you Canucks have some rank cattle too! He looks to be just a young guy maybe 4? Those horns should keep on growing nicely if somebody keeps him.

Couldn't tell if he has the other Highlander trait - notched ears? My Grandfather bought a Highlander cow about 25 years ago sort of as a joke for his son-in-law (my father) and we still have some of the descendants - and they still throw those ears (and horns) The shaggy fur went away in about 3 generations (wonder why? It gets down to freezing occasionally ;)

They have a reputation of being pretty tough cattle that's for sure.
