Omaha Steaks...
Has anyone here ever bought anything from them? Are their full dinners and side dishes any good?

According to the website, each shipment is packed in dry ice and in a mini-cooler... and even though it would be cheaper to buy my own from the grocery store, this sounds like it would be a cool gift idea.

Have you ever shipped (or received) anything from Omaha Steaks?

They look so good. Plus, the boss is paying, so red meat here I come! :9

3. I recently enjoyed some of their top sirloin at a friend's cookout.
The steaks were of superb quality, even prepared on a cheap grill with store-brand charcoal. I sez thumbs-up.

42. Dry ice rocks! And while I like eating meat (ask anybody),
beef is too fatty and these days contaminated with that "mad cow disease" because nobody wants to use the scientific name before they bash everybody for being dumbed down...

7. Holy shit, yes! They called like once a week, maybe more, I don't know.
It was fucking ridiculous until I finally told them to stop calling me. They were nice about it, but for fuck's sake, I don't need a new box every three fucking days.

6. Not worth it, unless you live in an area that doesn't have good beef.
I bought some two years ago to give them a try, and the beef I got at my local grocery store was much better. Not that the Omaha ones were bad - they were quite good - but the local stuff was phenomenal, and much cheaper.

I really wasn't impressed in a ratio to the cost. Not their steaks, their burgers, or any of the other stuff I had merited the excessive price.

8. We get them from an Aunt every Christmas
They've always been tasty and delicious. Plus, it saves my mom the trouble of finding something to make on Christmas Day.

So, in conclusion, !

10. There's an Omaha Steaks store a couple blocks from me...
Never been in there, but I have checked the online prices and they are high.

OTOH, I have a lovely T-bone in the freezer. Perhaps I shall thaw it out for dinner tomorrow.

I got a thread locked last night for talking about how delicious veal is and that it can be raised humanely

I then got gangbanged by some vegans and the thread was locked.

30. Sounds Like A Wonderful Meal... And A Well-Deserved Treat.
I imagine that you served it up with some crisp steamed asparagus smothered gently in Hollandaise sauce, some buttered and seasoned chunk-cut red potatoes, fresh baked bread, some soft music and candlelight (and of course... someone to share it with).

12. I've been buying Australian free-range beef from Trader Joe's
I read somewhere that beef fed on grass is better for you than grain-fed - something to do with the ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 in the meat.

15. DO NOT do it! They are bad. Years of experience talking here.
Every Christmas I used to get a couple of gifts from my relatives. I love my family but I wish they would stop throwing their money away.

The steaks are horrible. Mealy, grainy and dry. Not just once or twice...but always. And they have this funky, faintly old bacon taste. Really horrible.

If you want some good beef....go to NimanRanch. Or just find a good butcher.

Don't throw your money away on this junk.

Plus, once you order from them, they will phone you constantly trying to sell you more products. I go through this every January.

I've had no complaints, and I've received gifts from them. I thought their meat was top quality, and this was when I lived in the Kansas City area! They're a great gift idea, if you ask me.

21. I gotta better place, but it's REALLY expensive
http://www.uptownprime.com

An Idaho cattle rancher has imported some Wagyu bulls from Japan. Here he breeds them with Black Angus cows, then feeds them only vegetable matter--including Idaho potatoes.

Check out http://www.snakeriverfarms.com to see what this meat looks like. It makes Omaha Steaks' meat look pathetic.

Steel yourself: his "trial pack" of two steaks and two burgers is about $60. Plus shipping.

28. YES! YES! YES!
I'm a huge fan of Omaha Steaks, quite frankly the best meat you are going to get outside of Kobe beef. The steaks are incredible, the sides are incredible, the appetizers, the seafood, everything. There is not a single item I have bought from them that was not the best or top 3 that I've ever had. Make the first gift you give from Omaha to yourself. Outstanding.

31. Excellent stuff. Wonderful selection. The vegetables are
delicious. One caveat. DON'T give them your phone number or they will call you a brazilian times a day to offer specials.

Other than that minor nuisance, I have given them as gifts and enjoyed them myself.

As a matter of fact, I plan to send some to a friend who spent the last week with us helping me with the kids while I tended to my husband.

Really. I've tried lots of them.

Everything tastes like it's been sitting on the Red Lobster warming shelf. For about 2 days.

I don't mean to cause offense....but Omaha Steaks food is just nasty.
