He'd be interested in that pic of your dad. He's always loved planes and Mom finally let him get his license when I was in high school, but he sold his little Cessna years ago. I know he still misses it. :hi:

19. Dad flew single and twin engine planes
after he left the army. My first plane ride was in a either a Cessna 150 or 172 (can't remember). He was a jet engine engineer by trade and planes were a part of my life growing up.

30. My Dad. circa 1969
My Dad was a true "blue" member of the liberal media. He worked for the Boston Globe for a year then the Old Boston Record American, Manchester Union Leader, then on to the Haverhill Gazette where he worked for over 35 years. Dad won many awards for his investigative reporting in and around the Boston area. He even solved a murder once, following leads on the streets and putting himself in seedy areas with dangerous people. The police were grateful. That story won him another award.
Dad's liberal views got him fired a couple times. When JFK was considering a presidential run in late 1959, Dad wrote praising stories about him in the Manchester UL. The publisher, William Leob, told him to knock off all that praise for this is a conservative paper in a conservative town.... The Old man thumbed his nose at him and continued writing truthful and positive articles on the young presidential candidate. So Mr. Leob fired his ass. Which was probably for the best because he landed at the Haverhill Gazette where he aspired to editor. He was there for 35 or so years, retiring in 1996.
On may 5, 2000 Dad died in his sleep, in his house, in his bed with my Ma next to him.
I miss him terribly!
Happy Fathers day Dad.
