I'm in Cle Elum, standing atop Peoh Point. It's really high. My dog kept making me nervous getting too close to the edge. It's a long way down - and almost a perfectly straight drop all the way. If you saw the pics I posted yesterday - the lake that's in the distance to the right of me standing at the tripod is Lake Cle Elum. I took pictures w/ the same lake in them yesterday - but I was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy back past the other side of it.

63. It's not shoe snobbery I'm worried about -

It's admitting that I stepped foot in a Walmart! ;) These shoes have been great to me though. Comfortable, durable, and versatile. I even throw them in the washer when they get icky. They wash up incredibly well.

I'm really looking foward to it getting warm enough for me to take my dog on some river/lake trips where I can try out my new Teva Gamma water shoes. You'd never know it's JUNE around here by the temperature. :eyes:

This was at the first of many crests that we reached as we ascended over 2500 feet in the first seven miles of this hike. Then it was two miles across a relatively flat alpine plain with the big "tors" (what you see in the background on the hilltop), and a six-mile steep descent. We were totaled by the time we got down...it took us 12 hours all together.

ed. Those tors are approximately 200 feet high, so you can see how much further we had to go from this point.

Since it's upstairs, I've got a skylight in mine -- maybe that makes the difference? Either that, or it's gotta be all the reflective surfaces...distributes the light more evenly.
