When was the last physical fight you got into?
Mine would date back to I think 7th or 8th grade.

3. I've never participated in a physical altercation.
My ex-husband once threw a full can of Coors at the back of my head, but that was a one-sided thing.

4. 1973, when I was 18. It was with my dad.
I know, I know. But my dad was an alcoholic, and I'd dealt with his shit for years. One day, I was on the phone with my boyfriend. My dad wanted to use the phone, and when he had been drinking, he wanted everything yesterday. I said, "Just a minute," so I could tell my bf goodbye. Dad disconnected the phone call, and I lost it.

I hung up the phone and just turned on him. Only time in my life I have felt "red hot rage". Started whaling on him, and he on me. My mom and one of my brothers pulled us apart.

I'm not proud of it, but I understand my reaction. I had been dealing with my dad's crap for 18 years. When he was sober, he was the greated guy on earth. But when he'd been drinking? Nah. It wasn't good. All the pent-up feelings I'd had just spilled over that day.

I am happy to say, though, that my dad and I were able to reconcile everything before he died, and I will always and forever be grateful for that.

20. Glad you were able to reconcile things with your dad.
I had one of those red hot rage moments when I was 16 with my dad. Although I didn't turn on him physically, I DID for the first time stand up to him when he hit me, threatening that I would kick him in the balls next time he laid a hand on me (and I meant it). I think it was the first time he realized that I was pretty much a grown woman and no longer the little kid he could easily smack around.

He and I reconciled many years ago. I'm very glad to have been able to have that opportunity, and to have a father who was willing to admit how wrong he was for what he did. I don't think I could have healed as much as I did without that.

25. That does make a big difference, doesn't it?
My dad was an alcoholic, and like Jeckel and Hyde, he was different, depending on whether he was drunk or sober. (He did sober up before he died).

Just a few bruises. I get slapped, kicked and/or pinched practically every shift at my weekend job, but fortunately it rarely results in actual injuries.

7. Freshman year high school 1977
Two JHS districts merging in HS. Lots of conflict. I was walking down a hallway and four others passed me going the other way. One of them said something derogatory and another threw something at me. I wasn't thinking and threw the only thing I had back at them, a soft drink. Well, it was on. I ran out the nearest door with them on my heels. I squared off and got a couple of licks in, but with four on one, there was only one way that fight was going to end. As it was, it got broken up before I was a pavement stain. Funny thing is, that was the first and only fight I had in HS. Neer had any more trouble after that. They were after kids who wouldn't fight back.

It doesn't always work out that way but on that day I was just fed up. A couple of them even became kinda sorta friends after that.

9. I believe
may of 2003...it was a short fight...:) petersond is still the champ! But, here is the short short.

I use to work for the university that I went to school at, I was a dorm matron, and a little punk gangbanger moron, from WA was starting guff with another student. I stepped in between, he took a swing, I ducked, picked him up by the scruff of his neck, slammed him ass first into one of the couches in our lounge, he popped me in my nose, which pissed me off greatly. I then picked him up again, by the scruff of the neck, and then introduced his face to our lounge wall...fight over...

16. Second year of college - almost
Late night in the cafeteria, and one of the football players accidentally (probably) spilled his soda on me. I started to get in his face about it, and my buds bodily carried me outside before I got the living sh*t kicked out of me. The guy was roughly 2.5 times my size. :D

I went on to study martial arts to get a handle on my temper. It worked marvelously well.

18. I was probably 10 or 11.
It was so stupid now that I think of it. Big rivalry between two neighborhoods, the rich kids and the poor kids (how typical, eh?). Well, the two groups of us just got into it one day — like a brawl, maybe five or six kids on each side. That was so strange. No one was seriously hurt, though.

22. I've been hit but didn't try to defend myself a few times in the last
decade or so. But when I was in college I dated this guy who turned out to have major anger issues. He showed up one night at my house and attacked me while I was on the phone to my mother! I fought back with some success (boy, was he surprised!) and finally grabbed one of my firetools - the poker - and chased him out of my house and out of my yard.

My mother heard the whole thing and it freaked her out! He never bothered me again. I think I was lucky.

26. Funny you should mention this on Father's Day.
I gave my dad a black eye once. I was 13 or 14, he was drunk, and I sassed him. He said, "You need a paddling." He started toward me and I reflexively took a swing at him, punching him right smack in the eye. My mom started screaming like a bean-sidhe because she thought he was going to kill me, but he and I just stood there looking at each other with our mouths hanging open in surprise. My dad never, ever spanked me, but he was physically abusive to my mom. I didn't have much respect for him, and I didn't think he had any right to decide at my advanced age I needed a "paddling." That wasn't even a word we used in our house; my mom meted out any necessary physical discipline and it was called a "lickin'." And it hadn't happened to me in years and years.

I have no idea why or how I lived to tell the tale.

It was at a ghetto 4-plex party in east Anchorage. An acquaintance of mine (who was too coked up for his own good) decided to spit in my face while we were arguing on the 2nd floor deck. I threw him to the ground and toppled one of those propane bbq grills onto his head -then procceded to stomp on it. Thankfully, four guys from the adjacent apartment pulled me off.

31. 1961
I hated this other tenor in our high school choir since he was always being a piss ant so I took my leather gloves out of my coat pocket (it was winter) and I swatted him in the face with them as hard as I could. I suppose I meant to challenge him to a duel or something but nothing else came of the incident except he ceased needling me. I had some other opponents in high school but my quite big younger brother halted their annoyance to me, sometimes forcibly. I never had any need to use force later on since I was usually clever enough to get out of compromising situations early enough and also became a pacifist so I would not start a physical row.
