golf and hockey are dots inch per shit "sport"
as is American football, filthy foreigners football, ice skating, ultimate frisbee, water polo, backyard cricket, laughing (which is also a shit medicine), tennis, basketball, netball, just throwing and catching between friends (nowhere NEAR the most violent... so it isn't a sport), baseball, softball, ice hockey, ice hockey softball, forcembacks, tag (Shoot any kids you see playing it) and boulé.

Any sports I miss?

That's right, it is time to incoherently rant about whatever topic you want. (Your subject line should make some obscure reference to the topic. All rants must include the words "filthy foreigners" at some point)

Because dodgeball is for traffic wardens. :)

(This entire thing is one big joke, btw, as someone said "why no post ripping hockey & golf?")

12. But we are flaming all sports in general.
I did five years of track and cross country in jr high and high school. I still watch the televised events. No way I'd flame it unless this was a thread to flame all sports in general.

14. You were a runner?
I wouldn't have guessed that.

I used to cover a lot of cross country, when I worked for papers in towns where the schools had championship-quality teams. I really developed an appreciation for it — the team aspect, mostly.

I love the "basic" sports, like running and wrestling. They aren't as basic as they might seem, yet they're primal in nature.

31. Yes, I was a very enthusastic runner in high school.
I woke up early in the morning to get in a ten mile run every day and then practiced with the team after school. Most of us ran together in the am-much cooler than the midday heat in Missouri. Weekends we biked-it was our free time, if we didn't have a meet.

And cross country really is a team sport. Most see it only as individual and don't see what happens behind the scenes-the plotting, the studying of styles, etc.

I wish I'd never twisted my knee almost completely around. I'd probably still run to this day, even if just for fun.

17. Hyphens and dashes are Not the same thing!
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 08:39 PM by mutley_r_us
I can't figure out why people can't tell the difference. You've this: "-", which is a hyphen and belongs in a compound word such as, "Those hyphen-challenged folks make me want to scream." You can also have multiple compound words as well, such as the following: "These dash-and-hyphen-challenged folks sure do need a few lessons in punctuation."

Then there's the dash, which in a pinch can be Two hyphens, but honestly it's better to use the code to make a Real dash — hold down alt+0151 (sorry Mac users, I just don't know how to do it on your computers). A dash is a good replacement for almost all other types of punctuation — semi-colons, colons, commas, even full stops in some cases. So, if you can't figure out which punctuation you need, just use the handy-dandy little dash.

I don't know why I should even need to explain all this. Some people write English as though they're some sort of filthy foreigners.

So how'd I do? :D

Edit: Oh, is this only for sports? :P
