5. I got a congenial two month notice
and what's more, I was put on to "gardening leave" which meant I sat at home and they paid me as normal. This lasted a month before my job actually ended, and then they paid me for my two months' notice period. I managed to arrange my next job to begin just a few days after gardening leave ended. It was sweet.

9. Two week notice with a "business is slow" rider
I told them that I knew business was slow, and I'd be cool with them cutting me loose before the two weeks. This is a tight industry, and screwing somone over carries a LONG way, so they appreciated it. 3 days into my two weeks, it was over. I started my new job the next day, but they gave me the day off.

I love this place.

11. I wasn't quite fired
I was laid off... given severance and shown the door.

But they were assholes, and I love my new job.

15. Congenially laid off yesterday as no revenue to cover position...
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 08:41 PM by txwhitedove
...etc., and I was last hired. This is 3rd changeover in less than 2-months, so we knew something was going on. Though somewhat blue, I know there must be a better job waiting for me. That boss was a Fundie-Freeper-Bush pics all over the wall, and I restrained my tongue for months through H.Katrina refugee jokes/cartoons/articles and that Democrats are demonic.

16. I gave two weeks notice
Actually 2 weeks plus two days. I just finished on Friday as I mentioned in my thread.
I really felt like walking out sooner, perhaps calling in sick or unpaid personal days. I had to train my replacement and it was stressful, but I felt responsible for her learning as much as possible before I left. I start on Monday. I really wish that I would have taken some time.
For my endurance though, I will get two weeks of pay that I didn't take for my vacation.

17. Was fired but got revenge just by sitting and watching
Idiot co-worker wanted to run the department the way she wanted and had no patience with me coming up with technical solutions. She concocts a scheme with other co-workers to get me fired. I leave and leave no notes or documentation on solutions I created and what solutions I was working on. Apparently, she had no clue on what I did and was working on. Whole IT dept breaks down, stuff gets lost or goes missing, connections disappear, servers and desktop systems cough up big, nasty, slimy hairballs. Get call 3 weeks after firing to come in and fix systems. I note that I am no longer an emplopyee, that we (the company and I) signed a no-fault severance agreement, dissolving any and all prior committments, and quote a rate of $650/hr to come in as a consultant to fix their issues. Caller hangs up at the last bit.

In the mean time, I relocate, find a better job with one of Forbes' 100 Best Companies to Work for in America, get a 40% increase in pay (in an area that is much more politically progressive and actually less in cost, and I smile to and from work and the bank.

Revenge is sweet, especially when all you have to do is sit back and watch the self-destruction.

18. Bravo for you! I don't need revenge cause they'll all still
be in a little office yelling, cussing, trash talking Democrats, and watching soaps at lunch. That sounds like hell enough to me. Hopefully I'll move onward to a better job.

19. This has got to be the best "revenge" story I've ever heard.
And you didn't even have to lift a finger to make it happen!
