The "listen to me whine" thread
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 09:46 AM by NewWaveChick1981
So, I had a dental cleaning at 7:40 AM. I had to get up at 6 AM to get there on time, and when I arrived at 7:35 AM, all the dental chickie-doos (to use one of hubby's expressions) were busy laughing and talking and comparing what they got on sale last night at one of the big dept. stores here. I was the first appointment of the day, but they took me ten minutes late because of that orgy of consumerism... :eyes: At least I didn't have any cavities or anything like that. Oh, and it's been raining very hard since about midnight with no end in sight, it's very gray and dark, and I've got a headache and I'm sleepy. :(

Yeah, I know...:P Poor pitiful me... :nopity:

Oh, and feel free to post any whining you need to get off your chest...

1. I once went to the dentist in the morning for a check-up
and ended up getting a shot and some work on my teeth. x(

App at the dentist are nasty, no matter what time. But first thing in the morning ... UGH!!!

2. I'm not fond of the dentist either.
I HATE shots in my mouth. :scared: I've had plenty of dental work done in the past, but I haven't needed fillings for many years now. :) Hubby's a different story, though. He's had to have so much dental work done that it's ridiculous.

3. Fortunately my teeth don't need much work done
I get them cleaned again next week and beside a filling once in a while nothing has to be done to my teeth. I had a brace as a teen, that was enough dentis visits for a lifetime :eyes:

4. I sympathize. I had a dental cleaning appt. on 9/11/01.
I'm not a morning person, either, so I all I knew was that something really terrible had happened, but didn't actually see it until I was held hostage in my dentist's chair, watching CNN on her TV, seeing the second plane hitting the North Tower, over and over and over. It seemed interminable. By the time I walked out of there, into the warm September sun, I was so shaken I could barely stand. That was the day that I became political. I'd always voted, but that was it. But I realized, on that day, that I had to find out what was really happening in this country, and the world, that such a terrible thing could happen. So I began reading and really paying attention. I joined DU. I'm better prepared now. I haven't much liked what I've learned, but I know enough now that I'm unlikely to be blindsided ever again. I can spot the lies. I don't know why I felt the need to share all that, LOL, but whenever I go to the dentist now, I'm immediately brought back to 9/11...

5. Wow! That was a lot more profound than listening
to the sale items scored by the dental staff at my dentist! :) So in a roundabout way, a dental cleaning changed your life.

10. It sure did, LOL! I never thought of it quite that way... :-)
I should probably tell this to my dentist, though I'm sure that she remembers the day. I told her that Osama bin Laden was behind this, info I just happened to pick up from reading a TIME Magazine article about the bombing of the USS Cole. The last time I was there, I brought up 9/11 with the hygienist, who wasn't there in 2001. But she brought in the X-Rays that I also had taken on that day, said I needed new ones, and that's what took me back. I've never mentioned that before, but maybe I should. I think everyone probably remembers what they were doing on 9/11, the same as people remember the day that JFK was shot.:-(

7. Oh, man... sorry, bridgit!
That sucks. Hubby has congenital dental problems, and it seems like every single time we turn around, he's either going in for an emergency root canal and/or a crown. :( I can definitely sympathize!

9. Check this out
I heard about a lady who went to the dentist and died in the chair from a reaction to the anesthesia. So no matter how bad it is....well, you know the rest.

13. At least the worst of your day is over. Look at it that way...:-)
I have a doctor's appt. at 2, and I'm still not sure how I'm going to get there. The exit that I need to use to get on the highway is closed, road construction, so I need to figure out an alternate route. I had to take my dog to the vet on Friday, and my SO gave me a "shortcut," since I couldn't get on the highway. He made it sound simple, but I got lost twice and was stuck forever behind a school bus in a trailer park. I'm afraid that the same thing is going to happen, today.x(

That's what I felt like whining about... When are they going to finish the damn construction?! My SO said it won't be done until fall!:grr:

17. So kick back, put your feet up, have a drink, if you're so inclined...
The rest of your day should be easy, compared to this morning, I hope...:-)

And I didn't take the "shortcut," which I think is really longer. I didn't want to get lost, again. So what I did was get on the highway, going South, took the first exit off, then turned around, got back on, and headed North to my appointment. What a waste of gas, which is $3-a-gallon in my neck of the woods... *sigh* But the worst part of my day is over, as well.:D

And thanks for getting back to me. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better for both of us...:hi:

ago and it still hurts and is still swollen. It makes it hard to talk and eat, so I know where you're coming from...x(
