Lovely Joe Jackson show last night - see him if you get a chance
Did his old standards ("Is She Really Going Out with Him", "Stepping Out", "It's Different for Girls", and a bunch of others) plus my favorite "Hometown" and a bunch of new stuff and a few covers.

As usual, he does amazing things with a piano, plus he has Graham Maby on bass and Dave Houghton on drums.

He'll be in Chicago (6/15), St. Paul (6/16), Portland OR (6/19), Seattle (6/20), Saratoga, CA (6/22), Hollywood (6/23) SLC (6/25) Somerville MA (6/28, and New York city (6/29 adn 6/30). Well worth seeing!

Any other Joe Jackson fans out there?

1. I saw him in DC when he toured with his original band a few years back
Great show all the way through.

Took a pass on seeing him in DC this past Monday since there are other artists I want to see this summer.

3. One of my favorites!
I had hoped to see this tour, but wasn't able to. Was the show you saw at the Keswick? I saw him there on the "Night Music" tour. As I recall, I've also seen him on the "Night and Day II" tour and the tour with Todd Rundgren. And right now, I'm downloading a DVD of a broadcast of the "Volume 4" tour.

So yes, I'm a fan. :)

4. I wish he'd come to Memphis.
No one ever comes here, though. Where the hell is Memphis?

6. Well, Marc Cohn obviously came there at least once
(Walking in Memphis is one of my all-time favorite songs!)

7. I saw Joe Jackson at the El Rey in Los Angeles a few years ago. He was on
tour to promote his "Heaven and Hell" album.

Joe came out by himself and started out the show with "Is She Really Going Out With Him?"; just Joe and his piano. He then announced that he was going to work his way through his catalog album by album, playing a song or two off of each. It was absolutely amazing. Joe was in a great mood that night, too.

Not only that, but the El Rey holds about 1500 people so we were very close.

11. It's funny you should says "he was in a good mood that night"
He's a moody bastard, from what my SO says. SO was at a show at the Spectrum in Phila, and he stopped in the middle of a song and started yelling about the a/c, which then got turned off and it became VERY hot in there.

Tuesday night he seemed cheerful (for Joe)

We saw him a few years ago at a small venue in the city, and my SO put me right in front of Joe's tour bus with a sharpie and 2 CDs, and ran inside the bar next door to use the bathroom. I don't ask for autographs, so naturally, at that EXACT moment, Joe came out to get on his bus, and there's this 6' woman, looking terrified, standing in his way. He rolled his eyes, said "a little help here" (asking for me to un-cap the sharpie so he wouldn't have to put down his coffee") signed them quickly, then climbed onto his bus, ignoring the other people waiting (only about 50). He probably thought it was easier to sign then negotiate with the babbling fool standing between him and his bus!

12. Joe is known for being moody. He played at my college in 1982 on the
"Night and Day" tour. Joe and his band were doing an ac capella version of "Is She Really Going Out With Him" and the crowd went nuts. Joe stepped back like he was surprised and then this huge grin came across his face.

From that point on, he was like a totally different person...very into the crowd, charming and funny.

9. I've owned Look Sharp in three different formats
LP, Cassette and CD.
Plus I loaded the CD onto my ITunes.

Great songs and Graham Maby is the MAN on bass!!!
Favorite songs "Got the Time", "Stick Around" and who can forget "Sunday Paper"!

10. I saw him in San Diego at the Aztec Bowl during the "Big World" tour, back
when I was a pup. Ahh good times.

Tight band/tight show, too!
