Good Wednesday Morning, Crew!

:hi::donut:
Welcome to the Hump Day edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: How are you today, my friends? I hope you're doing well! Did you have a good day yesterday? Mine was kinda crappy and as a result, I have to go in on Thursday on my day off, to meet and deal with our Regional Director. So, I hope your's was better than mine.

And so here we are at Wednesday. The "Hump Day". After this shift, we'll be on the countdown to the weekend and I'll be on the countdown to vacation! :bounce::woohoo: I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to it too. We haven't made any set plans for my upcoming time off yet, and that's just fine with me! It's good to be able to do things as the idea comes up, or do nothing at all but sit and read a book all day! And spend time with my friends here on DU.

So, let's get this day started so it can get over with that much faster! Time to rise and shine, my crew! :bounce:

We didn't go shopping with the builder yet. We just met and made some plans on how to proceed. And then we bought a few things at Lowe's. I learned how to get to all the important places -- builder's, gas station, grocery store, and Lowe's. Oh, and I know where the pizza place is. Life is good. :D

14. Good morning Clint!
I'm sorry you had a crappy day, and especially sorry you have to go in on your day off to deal with the RD. x(

I spent a good deal of time on my hands and knees scrubbing my bathroom floor with Magic Erasers (it took several) to get rid of paint splatters and the grime that was set into the pattern of the vinyl and corners (that stuff that mopping just doesn't get). Then I had to run to the store to get more cleaning supplies--paper towels, Magic Erasers, scrubby sponges, etc. I swear this pre-move prep seems like it will never end.

"(Ghost) Riders In The Sky" I never knew Johnny Cash sang that, unless I'm thinking of a different one than you are.

Aren't those Magic Erasers awesome little things? We use them all the time at my store for scuff marks and things. I don't know what they're made of, they feel like a regular old sponge, but they sure get the job done! :bounce:

Yes, Johnny did a version of that song. Here's the lyrics to the chorous:

"Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry

Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Yippie yi yaaaaay
Ghost Riders in the sky "

Is that the same one you were thinking of?

24. That's the song
I'm wondering whose version I heard though. It was some time in the 80s and it was a somewhat peppy version. I'm seeing versions by The Brothers Four and Frankie Lane. I know it wasn't the one by Concrete Blonde or Tom Jones.

It was obviously a popular song.

20. Good morning, Clintmax!
:donut: :hi:

I'm sorry you had a bad day ... what happened?

We had another busy day (what a surprise) but we're starting to see the end of it. I slept like a log last night but I think I could sleep solid for a whole month.

Yesterday we met with the builder. I have an appointment to go on Monday evening to start to really nail stuff down and get a contract signed. He wants to start getting the basement done this summer! :bounce: Then he can start framing in September. We were nervous when we went over to the property last week and didn't find their sign anywhere. My son-in-law told us it meant they decided not to build our house (he's a regular ray of sunshine :eyes:) but it REALLY meant that someone stole the sign.

We need today to last a while so we can get more stuff done. The rest of you can get it over with.

It's good to see you early like this, my dear! :bounce: I have a feeling you're going to have busy days for at least the next ten months or so. Sometimes, I feel like I could sleep for a solid month too. I don't, but I feel like I can.

It's kind of a long story about yesterday, so I'll send it to you in a Pvt.

Did you get to go shopping yesterday?

You're welcome to come to TN for your vacation. :D

OK, I'll be waiting to hear the long story. Here's another

We only shopped at Lowe's for a roll of contractor paper and door stops. Exciting, huh? The builder told us that a good painter gets three coats put on at once -- one on the walls, one on the floor, and one on himself. I can do better than that ... I get one on BOTH sides of the plastic. So we tape heavy paper down and it works a lot better.

You sound like me! We've painted every place we've lived in and in every place, there is a paint outline of the roller I was using on the ceiling next to where the wall and the ceiling meet!

You went shopping for a roll of contractor paper and door stops?:rofl: I thought you were going shopping for appliances.

37. I get paint on EVERYTHING.
I grew up in the Army, where the motto is, "If it doesn't move, paint it." We've painted every place we've lived in, too. Harleydad HATES to paint with me. He doesn't even get any paint on his hands and I get it all over. But he had some paint sprayer problems -- containter came off -- and made the biggest painting mess I've ever seen! It was running down his pant legs and shoes and there was a huge puddle on the cardboard that he was using as a dropcloth. He really outdid me!

You're supposed to use a brush when you're that close to the corner. But, damn, ceilings are a pain in the butt!

We don't go shopping for appliances with the builder until after we sign the contract. That'll be soon. Then we'll go for light fixtures, fans, faucets, and all kinds of things besides appliances.

I've never done something like THAT. Greekspeak is good at "cutting in" and I usually let him do that, then I go behind him with the roller. It happens when I'm trying to get right up to the line he created. I guess I get too close to the ceiling.

Oh, ok. I didn't know you had to sign the contract first.

get the builder to start building before signing a contract. Hey, we're just happy we found them. Of all the builders we met, these are the only ones who listened to me. The others just wanted to deal with harleydad. I can't imagine going shopping with any of them! :scared:

22. Good Morning Clintmax!
Oh wow, sorry about your regional director and you having to come in to meet and greet.x( That just figures. That kind of thing describes my work life, phooey!

Hump day is good though as is "almost vacation time". Yippy on that. :bounce: :bounce:

We are having an appraisal done on our house today. We are another victim of the bush regime. All those creditors doubling some substantial credit card payments has put me in some trouble. I was just fine and whittling down the debt until late last year when usury (read: loan sharking) became legal.

I am still grateful for what I do have though and somehow we'll figure this out. I wouldn't mind moving if it came to that. Oh well life under the greedy, maniac president INC.

May your day speed along and Thursday go VERY well for you.

:hi:  :pals:

:hi::hug:
I'm sorry you're in some trouble like that. I'm quite sure you're not the only one who that's happening to right now. I know that doesn't help. I've been through that too in the past, so I know how it feels.

Thank you much for the good wishes. I'm sure Thursday is going to be fine. :loveya:

46. Morning Clint!
I join the others in saying I'm sad you have to go in to work on your day off. I'd be livid! And to be stuck with the RD on top of it, but I suspect that's why they want you there.

Was feeling sick last night, and not my perky self this morning. Queasy stomach, sore throat. I cannot get sick right now, that's impossible. So I think I'm going to skip running over my lunch break and just try to keep my strength up.

advice, thanks. I always drink lots of water, and try to keep the coffee consumption down. Actually, I only drink 2-3 cups, so I don't think that's just too bad.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I hate being sick worse than anything. Thank goodness I rarely do. Thank you for the nice words! It sucks that I have to go in on my day off...but I guess that's just something we have to do once in a while.

69. Thank you!
I rarely get sick too, so that's why I don't make a good patient. I think that I can still do all the things I should be doing, instead of resting.

Gotta head out of here soon, so wishing you a good day, and especially a GREAT store review, which I know you'll get.

Good morning. I had a feeling you'd be stuck going in on your day off. You'll do fine. Sun's out here. Things are a bit muggy - no surprise that. The cat, Gabby, managed to stay quiet until 5 a.m. That's progress! Good luck today.

I need to fix a cup of coffee to get my day going.
There's quite a bit to be said for sleeping except I miss my friends when I sleep too much.

104. I'll find out if I've been too sweet over the last 6 months.

I think my twice daily blood testing shows that I've got everything under control when I pay attention to avoiding white sugar, white flour and sweet potatoes.

The biopsy results are from a different doctor and will be along any day now.

My tattoo work is tomorrow afternoon. It's estimated at around 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

to fetch Miss Sugar Smack in North Carolina.
She is taking the westward ride with me and hopping on a train in San Fransisco for her trip home.

So you're ready for a walk on the wild side =

Eeek! I had to edit because I am leaving home on Saturday June 24th not 6/25. What was I thinking?
