"Sick," "Nasty," & "Keep your perversion to yourself" -- replies to THIS:
This was my post on another message board. I started a mild flamefest. The poll was a simple "what's your marital status," and "domestic partnership" wasn't on it. It's a regional message board in a blue state, but this region seems to be -- at least most of the regs on this board are -- anti-gay.

Here's my post:

If the poll weren't closed, I would've chosen "married."

Even though the current administration insults my marriage, along with a good portion of the population.

There is no good, no logical, no rational reason for my marriage not to be recognized. I've been married to my beloved for nearly six years, but we have no marriage license. As a result we are entitled to none of the over one thousand federal rights/benefits granted to married people.

Yet we are married.

And now, once again, the current administration is trying to codify that second-class status, that denial of equality, by pushing the "marriage amendment." I spit on their "marriage amendment." It is unthinkable that so many people think it's okay to add the denial of equality to the Constitution.

What exactly is sick, nasty, and perverted about that post?

Just goes to show that when they see a gay couple, anti-gay people instantly think of sex acts. Who's the perv now? :eyes:

3. I wish I could post it as a reply.
This forum has "karma" - a rating system that lets other users post anonymous private comments to your user control panel, with the ratings "good" or "bad." There's no way to reply and no way to know who sent them. :eyes:

7. sad but true!
heaven forbid they should stop and see the love and caring that two people share regardless of gender. Sad for them that they don't know love and compassion.

nuthin' sick or perverted in your post at all. Spitting's nasty  but hey, justified.

8. They struggle with their own "choice" perhaps.

It is so out of my realm of understanding, it's hard for me to understand. Why can't two people who love one another and want to share their lives be legally committed? There's no logic. Just ignorance. It's sad. :(

I'm sorry.

9. wow. Lakoff said exactly this at the Yearly Kos thing.
Man on man. And I thought he was full of it. He said when straight people hear gay marriage they think of gay sex. I was like 'they do'? Because most straight people bitch about marriage being the end of sex, so why would they equate marriage with sex? Is that the real reason that they resent gay people getting married, because we still have sex afterward when they don't?

(makes that funny noise scooby-doo makes when he's puzzled)

12. "sex after marriage? hahahaha" that's one of the points I make when I'm
really in deep discussion with someone. I haven't gotten that far on this board and I don't think I will. It's not worth it. There are some posts of support, and others have gotten into the discussion on the GLBT side, but it's just not worth it to me.

I have to watch my BP and I have very thin skin.
