1. Nah.
Avoid it if you want, but there is no reason to be a martyr about it and swear it off for all time.

20. Why would swearing it off forever make him a martyr?
Unless a rabid hunter killed him for being a vegan.

4. You could
but make sure you eat a balanced vegan diet. It's easy to be all french fries and Boca Burgers, but that won't cut it (any more than fries and regular burgers will).

Your body will reap the many rewards, as will the environment, the animals, etc.

Look, I had to post this. It's in my contract.

(How's THAT for great advice? That's me, always helpful.)

13. Hew! That's a relief!
I tend to lose my ability to think clearly when I limit my food intake to veggies.

carry on, then

19. I'm not vegan
but I often go for days without meat this time of year. So many fresh veggies out in the garden right now that I'm living off of them for the most part. The last meat I ate was at a Memorial Day cookout.

If you really want to go vegan I'm sure this is a good time of the year to be doing it.

23. Your inquiry may be casual...
...but if you're serious, then what do you think would be the benefits of going veggie or vegan?

Me, I think we evolved to eat meat when we can, and so I don't condemn it out of hand. I assume that we need some meat, but modern diets can provide all or nearly all of the required nutrients without any need for butchering animals.

I just finished my first serving of meat in a week--three strips of bacon. A week ago, I had a helping of beef. I would probably miss meat if I never ate it again, but I think a good moral choice can be to minimize our carnivorous choices.

Going vegan is a different issue. Do you feel strongly that domestic animals shouldn't be kept for their milk? How about wool?
