Poll question: most important to you
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 11:45 AM by bertha katzenengel
This poll's been done frequently, probably more often in GD. In thinking about my prescription coverage problem over the weekend, and thinking more about the idiot GOP's completely backwards priorities, I just want to see Lounge Lizards' opinions on what is the most important domestic issue. I know it's hard to pick just one.

PS I will edit as more folks put up different issues - I'm blocked, can't think of anymore at the moment.

1. Those are all incredibly important.
Any one of them, if reduced or eliminated, would be catastrophic, albeit in different ways.

4. That's the one I voted for.
Without education, none of the others means much. I have worked in the field of education my entire career (over 20 years), and I know what lack of education means.

9. All are important
Health care is personally important.

I'm a Wiccan so the environment is important.

LGBT equality is VERY important to me.

Homelessness just kills me. I knew this man... he was amazing. He was living in a shelter, when he could get in. I gave him a job, I gave him my own clothes, got him a place to live.(Don't worry, nothing sexual, he was straight.....) The point isn't what a great guy Khash is - anybody would have done the same. But there are wonderful people who are homeless, it's not a crime! And never forget that some of them are our people - gay, lesbian, transgendered. I get so angry... so I guess that's the one I'm picking.

Khash.

14. Khash.
Sometimes I wish I lived in a city so that I could at least offer homeless people a hot meal and a place to bathe and wash their clothes.

Unfortunately, "anybody would have done the same," as you say, isn't necessarily true. But we who possess this deep moral imperative do what we can.

16. Like you said....
We do what we can and we do the best we can. It's never enough, unfortunately. But we try....

Khash.

10. No "other" category?
I'd say it's getting rid of our debt and all that entails (higher taxes, cutbacks in some spending, etc.)

15. Poverty. It's the key to all the others.
If we could eliminate poverty more people would be in a position to fight for all the others.
