A pun on "sycophance" or "sycophancy". It would certainly be apropo for Mr. Spanish Inquisitor Gonzalez.

I sometimes feel a little bit of the old hubris, and think I get many of the topical or contemporary puns. And then I read something like Henry IV part I for the third or fourth time and realize how much I miss.
