Do you volunteer?
Please let me know your thoughts on volunteering. I'd also appreciate you taking the time to complete this short survey. I'll share the results later.

Thanks.

2. Thanks
That's the default setting. It's a great tool for doing free online surveys. There are certain limitations without a subscription, but still...

but they moved and it was just a pain in the ass to get to their new place. It took the fun out of it. :-(

20. You are being silly
"Fun"? It's never been fun. And it's often difficult. But at least you did it. And I say thank you - I've lost friends and lovers to HIV... and anyone who did anything deserves my thanks.

Khash.

31. There is nothing wrong with volunteering being fun
but an hour and a half bus ride as compared to a fifteen minute bus ride will take the sails out of anyone.

13. I worked on the Dean campaign, and later the Kerry Campaign.
Edited on Sun Jun-11-06 08:32 PM by scoey1953
I worked for a long time on Howard Dean's campaign when he was
running for the Presidency. Later switched over to Kerry's
campaign, and worked with the Democrats in San Francisco to
Get out the vote.

of course we were all disappointed in
the election..

15. Done. Non-profits keep me busy.
In my volunteer life, I'm on 3 non-profit boards of directors (am vice president of one), 4 fundraising committees, and serve as the editor of the newsletter of a cultural heritage society.

In my 9 to 5 paycheck life, I work for a non-profit organization and, in my spare time, I also consult on some anti-poverty issues for another non-profit.

17. I'm doing a year of service with AmeriCorps
so I'm a full-time volunteer. It's like a domestic version of the Peace Corps, but without the travel or the cool name.

I average 45-55 hours a week--that's spread out so that I spend about 40 or so hours a week tutoring "at-risk" children (K-5th grade) in literacy, and the balance of the time doing various community-based projects around racism, oppression, and economic justice issues.

My year ends at the end of July, and I have no clue what's next for me. Dang, I'm sure going to miss the kids!

21. Cool survey.
yup, I volunteer...both at my daughter's elementary school and with our local community hospice as a Volunteer Visitor. I sit with people who are close to the edge of life and provide practical support to their families, as well. Very rewarding and fulfilling work, indeed.

22. I'd love to
But with working two full-time jobs I just don't have the time. Both of my jobs are in human services, however, so I'm contributing in that way. When I get to the point that I can work fewer hours I'll be able to volunteer some hours (which I'd like to do with animals if possible).

It gives me a Page Not Found thingy.

I volunteer a lot if that helps.

26. I don't know if what I do counts
Like, last autumn I helped out when a group of my godsisters who are trying to run a preaching centre/temple in London all went to India for a month-long festival. I helped a friend to run their sunday programmes while they were gone.

Don't know if that's the sort of thing you mean. The questionnaire seems to be concerned with organised philanthropic activities, rather than services performed in the practice of a religion.

I was definitely a volunteer though, because I certainly didn't get paid for it. :hi:
