The Hubris of the Human (re: cats)
this post reads:

KITTEN COUP!

I heard crunching on the front porch (newly enclosed, but we keep the door open), and it sounded like a fox's eating sounds. So I got up to look -- and it was kittens. Ringtail had four of her kittens eating their dinner on the front porch. :7

But wait! There's more!

The wind had blown the door shut!

Although I need to put out a trap to catch the fifth kitten (if it's still with us), this little gift of the Wind Goddess has saved me a helluva lot of work and worry.

I should've known better.

The mom, Ringtail, started getting frantic to get out. I couldn't keep her in -- she might re-injure herself, or injure herself somewhere else besides her leg. What's more I just didn't want to torment her. Didn't realize it was torment for her. And her babies, too. So I'll do the work the hard way and trap them.

Sigh.
