My grandmother died yesterday
She had been having problems for a while, artery blockages that they decided not to operate on because they feared that she would die in surgery. She had already "died" at least four times before and didn't find it scary. When I saw her last fall, she said that she wasn't afraid to die and didn't think it would be a bad thing.
She was a Democrat, since deciding that Herbert Hoover was a liar when she heard him give the "Chicken in every pot speech", and involved in the local Democratic party and Democratic Women. She had four childrem, my mother being the youngest. Unfortunately, she pretty much served my grandfather around the house, but held various part time jobs as a nursing aide and working at a department store. Although my grandfather was always tight with his money, my grandmother was always generous with compassion and anything else that she could give without my grandfather noticing.
My parents were young and busy with a lot of young adult things when my sister and I were children. My grandmother always did everything for us that she could and seemed to love us unconditionally. We spent a considerable amount of time with her then.
I have been living away from my home area for the past 10 years. Two years ago, I lost my grandfather (my paternal grandfather, not her husband). In some ways, it is hard to be away. It is hard to lose people that you cannot see often or talk to enough. I wish that I would have got around to calling her this week, but maybe I was afraid in away. I have 2 grandparents left and I am afraid of losing them too, which will inevitably happen if I don't die young. Even if people love us, they still leave us in death.
I have been stressed out a lot lately. I am sort of dissociative about everything right now. I have to get through another day at work before traveling to my home area for funeral services and I am training people tomarrow since I am leaving the company soon (New job starts on June 19).

7. My Grandparents on my Dad's side have long passed away
but I was never really close to them, I could count on one hand how many times I visited them in Boston.

I share a duplex with my Mother's parents,(what is that called? My maternal Grandparents?) Anyway, they are getting up there, my Grandfather is 85 and my Grandmother will be 80 this August. We never lost anyone close in this family.

16. I'm so sorry for your loss...
"All human beings have failings, all human beings have needs and temptations and stresses. Men and women who live together through long years get to one another’s failings; but they also come to know what is worthy of respect and admiration in those they live with and in themselves. If at the end one can say: “This man used to the limit the powers that God granted him; he was worthy of the love and respect and sacrifices of many people, made in order that he might achieve what he deemed to be his task,” then that life has been lived well and there are no regrets."
