I bought my son an mp3 player for Christmas. There was a $40 rebate associated with the purchase.
Before the deadline, I submitted all the necessary documentation for the rebate. (Wisely, I kept a copy of everything I sent.)
About a month later I got a card saying that my rebate was denied because I didn't have the UPC symbol for the XYZ mp3 player. The card also said I could resubmit. So I did.
I sent them copies of the copies of everything I had sent, and I also sent a letter letting them know that the reason I didn't have a UPC symbol for XYZ mp3 player is because I didn't buy XYZ mp3 player. I bought ABC mp3 player, and that was all indicated on the documents provided. This was on February 24. (Again, I kept copies of everything.)
Today, I called found the paperwork on my desk and found a telephone number, so I called it. I got an automated program to check the status of my rebate. The program told me that my $30 rebate would be mailed to me within the time indicated on the original rebate form.
Well, the form says 10 to 12 weeks, and the rebate was supposed to be for $40, not $30. I stayed on the line and some nice young man told me that he would have their research department check into why I'm only getting $30 instead of the $40 I should get. He told me I could check back with their automated program in 7 to 10 business days to verify that the proper rebate would be sent.
?????????? Seriously... I submitted this stuff back in January!!!! How can it possibly take this long to cut a check for someone who provided everything that was asked for?
I had rebates on cell phones with no problem.
I know it's only $40, but that's a tank of gasoline! This is just ridiculous!
