Wedding Called Off After Bride & Groom Throw Punches
<snip>

ASPEN, Colo. --This couple didn't even make it to the altar before police made them part.

Ali Aghili, 37, and Marney Hurst, 33, both of Boulder, were to be married Saturday night at the posh Little Nell Hotel.

Instead, they got into a fight the night before and police arrested them because both allegedly threw punches, said police Sgt. Steve Smith.

The wedding had to be called off because their $250 bond conditions required them to stay away from each other, Smith said. He said it took police three hours to sort out the incident.

The investigation began after police received a 911 call reporting one woman yelling at another. Police determined Hurst had been shouting at Aghili's sister, according to police reports.

1. Here's the blushing bride and almost-hubby....

Aspen Police Sgt. Gary Kalkman was reluctant to talk about the arrests Monday.

"It's embarrassing enough for them, with people coming in for their wedding," Kalkman said Monday.

Police were called to a bar at 11:18 p.m. Friday on a report of two women in a shouting match. They found an intoxicated Hurst standing on the street and Aghili, who had been drinking, in the bar, police reports said.

According to police reports, Aghili and Hurst, who have had a relationship for 12 years and have a 1-year- old son, argued in their hotel room.

2. Here's a good (personal) one:
As a musician, I have played my fair share of weddings. We had a gig booked in Summer '03, and it was called off two weeks before the ceremony because one of the participants was caught in a "compromising situation." Since it was so close to the ceremony date (less than 30 days), they had to pay us, the caterer, and the venue 50%. Fast forward to Spring '04, and the wedding is back on. Ten days before the ceremony, you guessed it: they canceled once again. So our band, the caterer, and the venue got paid 100% of our fees and never had to do anything!

12. This has been awhile back
but my aunt used to wait banquets at one of the local clubs' facility which used to host wedding receptions, among other things. Anyway, she told me a story about how the bride and groom got into a knock down drag out fight at the reception! Now, you cannot possibly tell me that this was the first time this had happened. And they got married anyway. I swear some people deserve each other!
