7. Lady in Red is Chris Deburgh
the song that stops weddings colder than drunk vomit on the dancefloor during The Electric Slide.

8. Oh, okay.
All that awful 80's dreck blends together. I was really small but that song was always on the daycare lady's car radio and I grew to hate it as a youngin.

11. Deburgh once got down on his knee to sing that song to a babe

in the audience. He tried to hold her hand and
she pulled it away gutting herself laughing.

It was on live TV. What a dork.

36. Have you heard Bill Bailey's 'tribute' Beautiful Ladies?
http://muse.cream.org/bill/bewild19.mp3 (1.5 megs)

Beautiful ladies in danger, danger all round the world,
I will protect them, because I am Chris de Burgh

Beautiful ladies in emergency situations

Beautiful ladies are lovely, but sometimes they don't take care,
They're too busy with their makeup, or combing their lovely hair

To take basic safety precautions

But I will protect them, I will save the pretty ones,
With their smiles and their sparkling eyes

But let the ugly ones die
I have no place for them, in my new world order

I won't waste my seed on hideous trolls.
Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill the trolls,
Hunt them down there shall be no clemency

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill the trolls,
Look under the bridges - that's where they hide
(that's where they hide)

And beauty shall be my bride.

5. Peter Frampton
That entire live horrid solo album that was overplayed so much I shudder to this day if I hear a song. Particularly "Do You Feel Like We do" And that was 30 years ago.

I guess he's a became an American citizen and a Democrat though.

32. Hey...I love that tune!
Great guitar work, and Bob Mayo's (RIP) jazz-tinged Rhodes workout is genius.

I love Dream Weaver too (the album has some great cuts on it, and most of my favorite vintage keyboards).

Actually, "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross with Michael McDonald beats every song ever written for lameness. No contest.

13. A worthy choice! (Kokomo). I was gonna go with Christopher Cross until I
read the rest or your post.

I'm sure you must have appreciated the scene in "40 yr. old virgin" where the electronic store worker tells his boss if they play the Michael MacDonald DVD one more time, "Ya Mo Be There", "Ya Mo set this place on fire, and then put a bullet in my head".

14. Why do I like almost every song and artist in this thread?
Yes, I'd rather listen to Bread, Air Supply, Chris DeBurgh, and Peter Frampton over what's played on the radio today. (And I've always liked "Love is Alive" by Gary Wright better than "Dreamweaver". :) )

15. Agreed.
Although the Bread songs do all kind of sound the same...but they are soothing to me when I'm feverishly cleaning the house!

"Love is Alive" was definitely a better song. It reminds me of the summer I worked in Ocean City. It was a great time. :)

All the music today is crap. AND that includes country, rap...well, everything. I'm not a music snob either. I listen to everything. I just can't take today's crap, and I'm a broadcast radio DJ.

I know I wasn't alive when that song came out, but I listened to it via Windows Media Player, and I can understand why someone on one of those VH1 nostalgia shows said that every time it came on, no matter where you were, two or three people would drop dead.

I still love the song, which used to be my all-time fave. I will admit, at least, to the epic suckage of the vocal performance.

34. I don't think his singing sucked...
...it's unique. My Love Is Alive was a better vocal performance, as was Power Of Love from the same album (the really rockin' cuts from the Dream Weaver album didn't get airplay).

I love Dream Weaver though....Fender Rhodes and Arp Solina strings...yummy!

29. "Playground in My Mind", by Clint Holmes. Worst. Song. Ever.
"When this old world gets me down
And there's no love to be found
I close my eyes and soon I find
I'm in a playground in my mind
Where the children laugh and the children play
And we sing a song all day.

"My name is Michael, I got a nickel
I got a nickel, shiny and new
I'm gonna buy me all kinds of candy
That's what I'm gonna do"

See the little children
Living in a world that I left behind
Happy little children
In the playround in my mind.

Oh the wonders that I find
In the playground in my mind
In a world that used to be
Close your eyes and follow me
Where the children laugh and the children play
And we sing a song all day.

"My girl is Cindy
When we get married, we're gonna have a baby or two
We're gonna let them visit their grandma
That's what we're gonna do."

"My name is Cindy
When we get married, were gonna have a baby or two
We're gonna let them vist their grandma
That's what we're gonna do."

See the little children
See how they're playing so happy
In the playround in my mind.

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba
La la la la la la la."

31. Cheesy? Yes. Badly written and performed? Yes. Creepy? No.
None of those songs are about imaginary children in some creepy guy's mind.

One of the creepy children in 'Playground in My Mind' sings about buying a nickel's worth of candy. See? Even the creepy child in the creepy singer's mind is delusional unrealistic. .05 will buy you a piece of gum.

And the little girl who sings a song in the creepy guy's mind? She imagines makin' babies, so that she can decide "THEY WILL VISIT THEIR GRANDMA. THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO." :scared:

Just too creepy for me.
