1. That's a mighty solid-looking phone booth you've got there.

2. My former manager was in the film, as a child actress
running and screaming from all the mechanical birds.

3. Alfred Hitchcock had a great way of doing that.
My mom refuses to take a shower because of Psycho. She freaks out when the black birds take over our yard and trees as they tend to do occasionally. And I confess that I also get a little freaked out when it happens. I know that a lot of people now have phobias because of his superior work. My favorite movie of his is The Rear Window.

4. The Master knew
that chaos can erupt from any direction and when you least expect it. That's the theme of all of his movies, but this one most of all, I think.

5. that is still a very creepy film
I don't care what all the modern horror afficiandos say, Hitchcock was the master of psychological terror. What you don't see can be scarier than what you do.

I think M Night Shymalan is one of the few modern film-makers who seemed to "get it."

7. I just watched "The Amityville Horror" for the first time last night.
Was that film stoopid or what? LOL. I was terrified to watch it when it came out...but it was actually hilarious. Wow, was Margot Kidder a babe back then or what...the best part was that woman having convulsions going "it's the gates to hellllllllll" or whatever. LOL.

10. Here they are at my place
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 11:44 AM by UTUSN

As somebody here posted, "Nothing to worry about unless you see a suspicious blonde around town."

As for not liking birds, I wouldn't mind their drinking out of my dogs' water pan IF they didn't also BATHE in it and LEAVE FEATHERS in it, and above all didn't POOP in it. I have to change the water 2-3 times per day.

But my state actually employs a bird dude who goes out to shopping centers for pay and uses a hinged clacker (two 2x4s, hinged, 18" long) to CLACK like a gunshot. Supposedly, after 5 days they will never be back. NOW, the birds ARE protected UNLESS they are doing damage to property, AND ear stoppers/whachamacallums are required. And it's only ONE sharp CLACK for them to take off: Not standing out there CLACKING one's arms off. Also, it can be smaller boards, like 1x4s, 15" long.

12. First time I saw it
When we were kids, our basement was the family room -- that was where we had the television. Also, there was a spare bedroom and a bathroom that we used for guests. When no one was there, my sister and I used to sleep there on the weekends with our dog.

Anyway, the first time we saw the movie, it was on one of the late late shows. The next morning we heard this rattling around, and sure enough there was a bird in the basement. We hollered like fools and then we threw a stuffed cat at the bird. And, of course, our dog had to go fetch the cat and bring it back to the bed. LOL!

We eventually got the bird out.

13. HA!
I know what you mean. I've never looked at black birds quite the same, since I saw it as a young child!

14. I capitalized on
"The Birds" for a Halloween party. Went to a second hand store, bought an old suit, and put birds from Hobby Lobby all over me, hat and all. It was great. That said, I just LOVE Hitchcock films. Yes, he was the master.
