1. Unless you are the alleged perpetrator, call the police and report it.
See how simple? No melodrama necessary.

I thank you and all of society thanks you. Good day. :)

3. Oh. In that case, call the police.

4. Either it involves
kids under 18 or it doesn't. Either it involves sex or it doesn't.

I think you know if it's inappropriate or not. If you think there's something untoward happening...call the cops. There's really no need to talk to a lawyer first.

5. even if they are both under 16 ?
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 01:20 AM by greenbriar
and they are a couple?

I wouldn't call the police if there were physically dating and I caught them doing something I didn't like.

If they were in the same town, I would just march right over to the house and speak to the parents, but I can't drive to another state.

7. What does that have to do with rape and kiddie porn?
Two lawyers just told you to call the cops.

I don't know what else to say.

9. If you're
concerned that one of them is being injured...either physically or mentally, call the cops.

If they're having consensual sex and you think they're too young, call their parents, call the kids yourself and have "the talk" or butt out.

I guess I don't understand why you're questioning what to do.

10. because she ain't gonna call the cops on her daughter
she says clear as can be upthread that one of the teens involved is her daughter

she doesn't need her child labeled a sex offender because she and a boy in another state swapped some porno or she sent another teen a naked photo of herself

the mom should maybe take away the child's computer or figure out some other controls until the daughter understands that the risk is just not worth it these days

i'm not a lawyer so maybe i'm crazy too but i think the first law of self preservation and preserving the daughter's future has to come before involving the police, if the 14 year old girl has taken a naked pic of herself even with a cell phone and sent it to the boy, it's child porn

a couple years ago a 15 year old girl was arrested and labeled a sex offender for posting naked pictures of HERSELF on the internet

may we agree that getting the OP's daughter arrested is not going to help anyone?

now i'm no mind reader so i'm clearly just guessing what is going on and what the mom suspects but "call the police" could be a v. stupid thing to do to her daughter if i'm in the ballpark

11. I think you've got it.
This post is exactly why juries are needed to cut through the legal bullshit.

12. ok, I didn't see
the response that said one of the kids was her daughter.

But as you pointed out...just take the computer away.

My point, if you read all my posts, was that if there was some sort of abuse going on, the cops do need to be called. I don't give 2 shits if it is her daughter.

If, on the other hand, it's harmless yet improper behavior, then the parents need to deal with it.

14. I am not a lawyer
and I do NOT want to hear any details(I am a mandatory reporter in my state), but I can see your concern for what is legal and safe for your girl. And it is true, at least in my state, that a person can be a victim and a perpetrator at the same time. My suggestion is talk with an attorney in town you know, to understand what rights and responsibilities you have. Taking away her computer, talking with her and the boy, talking with the boy's parents are all good options too. But I would speak with an attorney face to face before contacting the police if this is not a clear cut case of abuse/violation.

16. how do you know the boy is really a minor?
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 04:34 PM by grasswire
It could be anyone and usually is, on the Internet. Perhaps you have confirmation of his age, but if you don't you oughta get it immediately. If it is an adult man, then the situation becomes much different.
