So, what are you listening to this weekend?
Before bed, I listened to:

More of Holly Brook's Like Blood Like Honey: it is full of lovely songs, and it should be coming from amazon.com next week. I think she's a cross between Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos, with some of Vanessa Carlton's pop sensibilities. She's not a Sarah clone like the solid but underrating All Music Guide review says.

samples from Zero 7's latest, The Garden: It sounds quite worthwhile. Surprising, because I wasn't interested enough to buy the solo albums from Sia, Sophie Barker, and Tina Dico.

samples from Mary Lee's Corvette's Love, Loss & Lunacy: again, loved what I heard! Her voice is a bit like Cindy Alexander's, but her style mixes Lucinda Williams with Sheryl Crow.

And earlier today, I heard Susan Cagle's The Subway Recordings: this is true folk/pop that fits in a pop/rock setting! Right up my alley musically.

Finally, heard The Dixie Chicks' Taking The Long Way again. The Chicks' best yet, and that's saying something!

1. Did you listen to whole Dixie Chicks's CD or
just the one song? The CD is great. I am listening to
Gorillaz tonight.

9. The whole CD

Got it right when it came out. I think it's my favorite of the year so far! I like the fact that they distanced themselves from the Nashville sound while still retaining their identity.

3. DIXIE CHICKS - OMG - I got it today as a show of support and have been
listening to it all night. I'm totally blown away. I can't remember when I've been this excited about a CD. The best I've heard in a very long time. I went to their website and saw clips of their 60 minutes interview (as well as seeing them on Larry King this week). They are simply amazing. The tunes are wonderful and gutzy. I'm going to try to get tickets to their show when they come to L.A. I never really listened to them and, like I said, I got the CD as a show of support. What a surprise -they're really GOOD!!
