Friday Afternoon YES thread: Favorite three YES albums
My favorite and in this order:

This is probably not the best YES album out there but "The Yes Album" was my very first Yes Album and you tend to love the best what you've owned the longest. Starship Troopers is a song I could play 20 times in a row and still feel fricking amazed at the very end of the song. And "All Good People", especially "Your Move" segment has to be my absolutely favorite Yes Song (not to be confused with the YESong album.). If you listen closely towards the end of "Your Move" you can faintly here "All we are saying is give Peace a chance" - best advise ever!

One album and just three songs but what amazing songs are those three songs. If there was ever an album that says "YES IS PROG ROCK" it would have to be "Close to the Edge". Plus it has one of my favorite non-Yes ALbum songs on it - "And You and I" - a melodic prog rock ballad and an amazing song

This album because it has three of my favorite songs surrounded by six additional amazing Yes songs. Anything with "Heart of a Sunrise" on it just has to be good.

Honorable Mention:

Not really the best of Yes but I love this album because it was the one of the first concerts I ever saw which was the 90125 tour. We were like 10 feet from the stage and Yes put on this amazing light show closing it with Starship Troopers (it was the live performance that made me fall in love with the song). It was shocking how many of my friends in HS couldn't understand what the big deal with YES was and why they were booked at Hershey Stadium (the big ticket venue) as oppose to City Island (the location for smaller acts that draw less of a crowd) because they had no clue Yes had been putting out albums since before we were born

So what are your three favorite YES albums!

1. I was able to see yes in a college gym back in 1971 or 72...
Right after they came out with the Yes Album....

That's when they played their version of Every Little Thing She does....

And America....

I agree with your first two choices but would have to say the 90125 album showed how much the group evolved and adapted to the times.....

I ended up seeing them five times....

The second time was at Cleveland Stadium on a summer friday night....

1975....

Marvelous three hour show....

2. Here are my three picks
1. "Fragile." Every time I play that, I'm taken back to 1984 and my obsession with all things "Dune." And if I play "The Yes Album" and hear "Starship Troopers", well, shit, I become the Kwisatz fuckin' Haderach.

2. "90125." So sue me. "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and "Leave It" are just ear candy with headphones on.

3. I'll cheat and say Asia's self-titled first album. Sure, we don't have the vocals of Jon Anderson on this work, but "Wildest Dreams" is a piece of Cold War-era genius. And don't forget all this hits that you know you cranked up when you heard them on the radio.

I also dig Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe's 1989 release plus the 1986 GTR self-titled album that has Steve Howe layin' down the licks. "Midnight Sun" off the second Asia album is one of my favorites, too. A great song done in 7/8 time.

By the way, check out the official Yes site's band members' page at http://www.yesworld.com/. See the current pictures? Roll your cursor over each member's photo for a nice treat.
