3. I actually have a page there.
Edited on Mon May-29-06 09:06 PM by jadedconformist
And, I hate to say it -- but yes -- most of my friends are on there too. Everybody seems to have different reasons to have an account there, and I'm sure some people may have nefarious reasons to make an account. For me I just use it as a networking tool; to coordinate events and communicate w/ my friends at a central location whenever I can't call each and every one of them. I find it convenient. To each his/her own though. :)

5. Fuck no, the layout is horrific and it's the Paris Hilton of websites.
It gets way more attention than it deserves in spite of being half as good as anything else.

And you know it sucks because the "news" media are all over it; the way they act like it's the only site teenagers go to. Oogity Boogity, MySpace!! Stay away from MySpace and your children will never encounter sex or predators!! :eyes:

6. I agree in a way....
that the layout is horrible, but that's just where everybody I talk to has an account otherwise I'd prefer to be at Friendster.

8. Yeah, that's the thing....it's a bit of a trap that way.
I'm over at Friendster, which is less obnoxious, but I only joined there because some of my friends asked me to. I'd rather be at neither, I mean, I know how to reach my friends without a website, ya know, LOL?

MySpace *is* pretty popular, so I can see where right now that's "the place" to be. I'd imagine your friends don't want to go to the quieter (and did I mention less obnoxious) Friendster--it'd seem way boring after MySpace, not to mention all the "friends" they'd lose.

So you're excused, LOL!

14. Yeah - I signed up two years ago or so...
otherwise I probably would most likely not have one right now given all I've heard about it. It's not so bad. I only correspond with people I already know for the most part.

People seem to feel really passionate about not having an account like it's the devil. LOL.

Again: To each his/her own.

7. NO. And I don't want one.
DU is the only internet site I tend to go to regularly besides sites for work and some other naughty sites

I am not into all these chat rooms, web pages, etc....

And she and her friends are the only ones I know who use MySpace. She already got herself in a bit of "trouble" by dating some guy on there who turned out to be a real creapazoid.

But a lot of unknown bands do post song samples up there, so it's good for something.

16. Yes, but I never use it
Signed up at the urging of a relative but got turned off by it all really quickly -- I'm not especially social and I get more than enough essentially meaningless superficial social contact in my work without having to seek it out online. I've got better things to do with my time, and that includes laying on my back and staring at the ceiling. Haven't checked in to my account since last November or December...I have since accumulated, in my e-mail account, a bunch of requests from people wanting to be added as 'friends' or have me in their MySpace groups, but I have no driving desire to take action on any of that BS.

Never cared much for the "OMG OMG U R HAWT" side of Internet culture, anyway...

DU is more than enough for me, apparently, and it can be bad enough.

My girlfriends two kids are both on there, and it was the easiest way to keep track of them. :spank: You can't view their pics without an account. Just happens that I have friends in bands that use it to promote their gigs, and I can help spread the word.

I don't even have a clue what that place is all about, just did the thing on a whim. But it's kind of funny, Read it, post comments (if you can do that) about that freak who thinks he's my friend.

I can hardly keep up with DU and a couple other online interest groups. That's where I prefer to 'meet' people online - not where someone can see my pic/stats and call themselves a 'friend'.

I'd be spending all my time on the net, and would prefer to have some sort of a life. ;)

And even then it is to keep track of events that I am invited to and to look at photos that my friends post. And, I don't get a headache from looking the design hemorrhoid that is myspace.

He's not 15. He's 33. :hi: Actually, he has three - a personal one and one for each of the active bands he's in.

It's really really useful for musicians. Pretty much every indie rock band I know of has one now; you can post sound samples and tour dates and recording updates and things really easily, and network with other musicians all over the place.

When I write about music, I use it for research and getting in contact with bands all the time.

A) I am an adult who is not a pervert or pedophile.
B) I don't feel the need for any more "friends".
C) I'm married and not looking to "hook up".
D) I'm not looking to sell anything or promote my band.
