I need a hug
I hate living with my family. Hell, I don't even like them most of the time. I want nothing more than to be anywhere else. A tiny roach infested studio in the worst part of town would be my own little slice of heaven by comparison. But I can't even afford that, let alone afford that, daycare and be able to go back to school, so I'm stuck here and I'm miserable and it won't be getting any better while I'm in school. I don't think my sanity or my relationship with my kid can survive years of this.

Like I said, I need a hug.

2. That sucks, dude...
I would have a very hard time living full-time with either side of my family again. School plus parenting is a rough gig. Good luck to you with it.

4. I hear you...
I just rcently started college again and I don't know how I'm going to do that and work even part-time. It takes every spare minute I have to keep on top of my homework.

Here's a hug from me... it may seem tough right now, but once you get your degree, it will all be worth it.

I have the opposite housing problem. My roommate, a good friend, is moving out. For the first time in years I'm going to be living alone. I don't know if I can afford it. And given my health and disability issues I don't know how well I'll manage entirely alone. But I can't have a stranger move in here with me, so I'm stuck trying to make a go of it alone.

28. Hugs for you.
Also, at one time I ran the day care program at my alma matter for non-traditional students, older folks, who have children, going back to school. There was no fee. Instead, parents had to volunteer in the program for a percentage of time their kid spent there while they were in class. They also had to participate in a brief training since I was running a specific model. Very successful. I hope there's something like that near you.

33. I feel the same way about my family.
Luckily, I was able to get out of the same house, but it was touch and go for my sanity there for awhile.

(((((((((((((((((((LeftyMom)))))))))))))))))))

Maybe we could help you brainstorm some ideas for getting out? I know I could use some ideas on how to afford to move to another city. Even my own apartment isn't quite enough. :)

38. Oh, my friend! I am so sorry!!!
But I need one, too. My boyfriend is mad at me, since I said the wrong thing, yet again, my dog died two months ago, after a horrific weekend spent at the Emergency Clinic, and I'm not accepting this easily, and my living situation is precarious. So I need one, too, my friend. But I'm here and I sure understand how you're feeling, since my family is no picnic, either, and I care about you. Please remember that and be safe. Please let us know how you're doing. And here's a hug, from me to you.

I have a wonderful listener to talk to and that helps more than I can say. I talked to him about it and I'm doing okay now. It sounds like right now you need a hug more than I do.

PS I'm a genius at saying the absolute worst thing to the people I want to hurt least, so I know what you're going through on that one.

42. I'm glad to hear this, my friend.
I was worried about you.:pals:

And thank you for the hugs. And I have someone to listen to me, too, though this is my therapist. I started seeing her when I felt that I was at the end of my tether. This helps, but it's only once a week, and, this morning, I did what you said that you do, apparently said the absolutely wrong thing to the person I love most in this world, so I have yet to see how this shakes out. *sigh* It's a constant struggle and I'm hoping for the best. Why is it that we only seem to get into trouble with those that we love? I'm on excellent terms with my hairdresser, my financial guy, my doctor, my veterinary staff and the checkout people at my local grocery. They love me. But I can't seem to make it through a conversation with the person I love most, without stepping into it...

Thanks for the support and I'm sending you another hug, from me, to you.:hi:

41. Here, LeftyMom....I understand...I visit my mom
and my sisters approx. four times a year (I live 100 miles from them) and I stress about it each time.

I often wonder where I came from...my mom has ZERO curiosity or cynicism about what she reads and sees in the news. If Matt Lauer said it then it must be true. Oy vey! Do I have my work cut out for me. My sisters are all Bushbots because of the abortion issue. One sister is POOR, POOR, POOR but just because she cannot see beyond abortion she votes Republican. The other two sisters do OK, they are solidly middle class and support Bush.

Here's a hug for ya!!!
