Britney says she needs a gun because she almost dropped her baby
http://www.salon.com/ent/col/fix/2006/05/19/fri/index.html?source=salon.rss

Britney wobbles but she don't fall down: The saga of Britney Spears' brazenly terrible public parenting continued on Thursday when she nearly dropped Sean Preston on the sidewalk while exiting a New York hotel. The pictures show Spears leaving the hotel with a glass of something in one hand and little Sean in the other -- moments later, he nearly pitches head-first to the ground. Afterward, Spears reportedly said, "This is why I need a gun." Perhaps in an attempt to retaliate at all the bad press the pictures have generated, Spears' official Web site featured an old publicity shot of her prominently displaying the middle finger to the camera, alongside a poem too cryptic and vague (is she talking about the media? Kevin Federline?) to be analyzed. (TMZ, Us Online, Perez Hilton)

After this next kid can we please sterilize this girl please!!!

2. I think we should give it to her.
There's 5-2 odds that she accidentally kills K-Fed and herself.

5. What is why she needs a gun? So she can shoot at the ground
in order to walk upright?

8. *cough* I was responding to the assumption that she was drinking
on the way out the door. But yeah, I realized she was probably joking. So don't get your panties in a snit.

9. Really..
I am tired about hearing about her and her parenting skills. I am a nurse and I see people everyday who the same as her, it is just magnified because of this sick fascination we have with celebrity.

11. to be fair, she isn't the first new mom to make mistakes
Edited on Fri May-19-06 03:47 PM by tigereye
I think she needs more help and an experienced au pair, since she can surely afford one or more! ;)

I kind of feel bad for her, since most moms aren't exposed to such scrutiny.

She is certainly making a lot of parenting mistakes, but what do people expect from Britney Spears?

14. the scary thing about young babies
at times, is that they are so unbalanced by their gigantic heads.... ;)

(flashing back to when I tripped on platform sandals once with my kid in hand.) :scared: he was fine, but the shoes went right in the garbage.

17. I agree.
We should all thank our lucky stars that cameras aren't there to photograph our every move.

13. To shoot herself so a competent mother
could care for the baby, instead of an overhyped, played-out Mousketeer that thinks her kid is some fashion accessory like Paris Hilton's chihuahua?

15. I'm no fan of Britney Spears... but who here is a perfect parent??
Edited on Fri May-19-06 05:33 PM by Blue Belle
Really?? None of you stumbled while carrying your child?? None of you ever had a child fall out of a high chair?? Please... I'm sure if you had a battalion of reporters following you every minute of the day you'd all be perfect parents too. :eyes:

Britney's only problem (other than the skank she's married to) is that her every move is documented every hour of the day, and the voyeurs play into all the hype. Give her a fucking break already.

23. Absolutely correct. This is getting well out of hand.
We're targeting her because she's a celebrity, and we like to see the big guys fall. In some cases, literally.

16. I fell when I was carrying my cousin's baby
It happens. The baby was fine, my knee and arm were a little worse for wear. Britney does plenty of dumb things, but I'm willing to give her a pass on this one.

21. Why not drop the glass instead of the child?
What's in the glass that costs more than her child? Especially when she's reported to be pregnant again?

it's her life. But it's also the lives of her children.

She needs a man who can be a father. Or a woman. Or a toaster or whatever she wants to jump into bed with; just a second parent. Being a single parent, regardless of one's personal monetary wealth, is hard.

18. She needs a gun? I think she needs some condoms, sorry.
The whole situation is sad and, as a celebrity, is making not only herself, but America look very sad indeed. :(

25. She doesn't need a gun, she needs a nanny to help her out.
That being said, I fell down with my daughter in a backpack thingy.

Yes, I fall down a LOT.

Child was about 9 mos old, in my baby back pack and I did a massive trip and fall, face-forward. She went pitching over my head and my hands flew up to hold her in the pack to keep her from breaking her neck, and I took the full force of the fall on my knees. Child was safe and completely unharmed.

My right knee never really recovered from that one.

Accidents happen.

She needs a nanny. Badly.

26. Okay, let me see if I've got this straight...
she's gonna carry the baby, a glass of whatever, and a gun?!

Is there such a thing as Celebrity Darwin Awards? Or, could there be?

Please, paparazzi, if you're lurking, please leave her alone before she does something really stupid. Her fifteen minutes are just about up, anyway.
