HARD man of rock Liam Gallagher showed his softer side recently when he bought a Whitehaven woman a drink outside a London pub.

Nicola Fleming, 24, of Mirehouse, was sitting in the sun in Primrose Hill, London, when the Oasis frontman asked to borrow her cigarette lighter.

The two started chatting and he was more than happy to pose for a photo with Nicola.

The only story like this I know about any of the Beatles is during the Imagine documentary that came out in the eighties, where some guy shows up at John Lennon's house thinking that "you can syndicate any boat you row" means something important and John has a chat with him to convince him that it doesn't.

Oasis does not have to create crises to get in touch with their fans.
