they picked great cities to visit for the weekends. Was in Potsdam and Leipzig just the other weekend. It is fantastic how much changed in the last 15 years and how beautiful the inner cities look again.
If you have the time go to the Leipzig zoo. It is a great experience.

is that I've been to all these cities before, but that was in the mid-90s. I am really curious to see how much everything has changed.

With all the trips I take with my students I have been to Berlin in 2003 and 2005; the constant change there is/has been amazing.

I have a trip planned for 2007 which is: Budapest, Wien, Salzburg, and München. Included are side trips to Oberammergau, Neuschwanstein, etc. In the meantime, I have established a partnership with a school in Simmern (bei Koblenz) this year; and, they want us to visit them for several days and have my students experience life in a small German town residing with their pen-pals.

My parents have not been in good health lately. My father had hip replacement surgery and has been in a nursing home for physical therapy. My mother had a bout with bronchitis on top of asthma, and had to take of the bills while Dad was convalescing--major stress for her.
