Woman Crashes While Talking About Michael Jackson On Radio (Silwa/Kuby)
MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. -- A woman who was on her cell phone discussing the Michael Jackson case on a radio call-in show was hurt when her sport utility vehicle was hit from behind.

Cheryl Picker was talking to WABC 770 morning show hosts Curtis Silwa and Ron Kuby just before 9 a.m. Tuesday when the crash was heard on the radio. Kuby was heard saying, "Cheryl, are you OK? Cheryl? Cheryl?"

Picker, 44, was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition Tuesday. The hospital would not comment on her condition early Wednesday.

1. Isn't talking on your Cell Phone while driving illegal in New York?

3. Hands free is Ok ...
I have noticed the cell phone ban honeymoon is over.

There are more people using cell phones in their car than ever before.

Cheers

4. Problem is not just hands
it's the fact brain and eyes often don't work together. Yacking away while driving often means you don't always react appropriately to what your eyes are seeing. Sure it's illegal to use cell phones while driving in many places, but how do you implement the law? Bet most people who are constant yackers probably don't even know there are laws about driving and cell phone use. Cell phone usage has become an addiction with a lot of people nowadays.

7. In the article it states that she had pulled over to the side of the road.
I am guessing she was not driving.

6. "was hit from behind. "
I fail to see how not talking on a cell phone would prevent a rear end collision. Unless of course the person rammed her because she was talking on one.
